Kidbits: Our Life in a Series of Face Book Updates... Part 12

In honor of my super boys, Shawn and Jason (born at 28 weeks and 3 days), and the million babies born too soon this year, I'll be wearing purple on November 17th.

Please join me on World Prematurity Day ...

World Prematurity Day

A certain someone is under the misguided belief that he can scream his wants (ending with a hearty NOW!) and get something. Silly boy.

Ain't going to happen.

He's lucky we're under germageddon and that could be contributing to this ...fun... behavior or he'd be getting into some serious trouble right about NOW. Ahem.

Third man down. Sigh. So much for a nice, restful long weekend...

November 13 at 4:48pm

---

"Mommy, you are the best doctor in the whooooole world." **melt**

Starting to feel better. :-)

November 12 at 9:29am

‎2nd man is down. Jason decided that he too would join the sickness party. Boo. Let's hope his recovery is as speedy as Shawn's. Jack hasn't been eating like usual. I hope he isn't next...I sense that we may all be in for it.

The big boys spent the night apart, as my mom kept Jay and Jack while we went to the hospital. We didn't get the J's until this morning. They have been pretty inseparable since.

It is incredibly sweet to hear both the big boys are in Shawn's bed for quiet time. Granted, there isn't much "quiet" happening, but I can't get in the way of them being together. :-)

Shawn is doing much better today. He slept well (with his feet in my back all! night! long!) and is eating today. I don't know what was going on with him yesterday, but it was scary and I'd like to not have a repeat thank you very much.

I, however, am beat and have one major headache. :-/

Long 6 hour night in ER with a sick Shawn. Just getting home at neatly midnight. It looks like he will be fine, though. Such a relief.

My brain is fried. I am going to be worthless tomorrow. :-/

Here's an interesting tidbit: "The March of Dimes was established by FDR to fight polio. The mission focus [has since] shifted to premature birth and birth defects."

Our family is very fortunate because of that mission focus shift!

Discover the history of the March of Dimes from its founding in 1938 to combat polio to its current efforts to improve the health of all babies...

Prematurity Awareness Month - Fact: "More than 70 percent of premature babies are born between 34 and 36 weeks gestation. About 12 percent of premature babies are born between 32 and 33 weeks gestation, about 10 percent between 28 and 31 weeks, and about 6 percent at less than 28 weeks gestation."

My boys were born at 28 weeks gestation.

Babies born before 37 completed weeks of pregnancy are called premature. While many of these babies do well, some go on to have lifelong health problems...

November is Prematurity Awareness Month.

Jack's been awake for a half an hour, but has yet to ask to get up. I peeked in to see what he was doing. He's happily sucking on his toes. Now I wonder how long that will entertain him. Lol

October 30 at 3:26pm

---

We are currently facing birthday let down. Some little people are so sad that the celebrations are over. :-(

The concept of "next year" is totally lost on them, too!

October 30 at 11:08am

---

Jason has decided that all the presents are for him. Lol. Being a twin has its perks!

October 29 at 6:58pm

---

‎2 of Jack's teeth broke through. He's now up to 5. It looks like there are a few more about ready to erupt.

October 27 at 9:34pm

---

"Mommy...I had the most wonderfulest birthday."

"Me too!"

And with that, they both rolled over and went to sleep. :-)

October 27 at 9:30pm

---

Whoa. I now have two 4 year olds in my house. That just boggles my mind! :-)

Happy Birthday Shawn and Jason!

October 27 at 12:22am

---

It looks like the littlest is getting his upper front teeth now (he already has his upper right canine tooth). He is one unhappy guy. Today, he refused to drink his bottle. Now you KNOW he has to be miserable for that to happen. :-(

October 26 at 11:54pm

---

Shawn had his eye appointment today. His prescription has improved by a lot. I don't know if it was the strabismus surgery or his eyes maturing, but yeah for progress. Maybe someday we can ditch his glasses! That has always been a possibility...

Dare to dream!

October 26 at 9:24pm

---

The "why?" stage (in stereo) is exhausting. Seriously.

October 25 at 5:45pm

---

Isaac told one of the boys to give him a tow. (They were playing cars.) The boy handed him his foot. I almost died from the laughter. I sometimes forget how literal this age is!

October 21 at 9:52pm

---

Little guy had some avocado tonight. Let's just say he is a fan. I couldn't get it in his mouth fast enough! Lol

-------------------------------

Hey, this is the 600th post! (That's averaging a post every 2.5 days. Or something. If I was keeping count and all.)

For what it's worth, this is post 178 in a row, which means I've posted every day for 5 months and 25 days. (Again if I was keeping track...)

Ahem. Can we say, "Toot! Toot!" :-)
