Kidbits: Our Life in a Series of Face Book Updates... Part 3

Alternately known as "Our Life in 420 Characters or Less..."

---

I was just looking through this a bit ago. It made me all teary to see how big they are now! They will be "Forever Young" in my eyes, I think.

**Refresh the screen if you can't see the video. It should come up.

Jason's tummy is "scared" as he put it. He threw up dinner. Let's hope this is just a quickly passing stomach bug...

---

My brother was talking to the boys this evening. "Did you lose your marbles, Shawn?" he asked. Shawn got the funniest look on his face, but he didn't miss a beat. His answer was "Yes!" of course. :-)

More proof I don't cook: My boys flipped out tonight when I turned on the electric mixer. The acted like they have never heard the mixer before in their lives. Sigh. Apparently it has been a while since they last heard it. In my defense, it hasn't been that long--maybe a couple of months...tops!

Jason is knocked out cold. Shawn is not. Listening to Shawn read "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" to himself in bed. It is too cute. He actually sounds surprised at what each character sees when he turns the page! :-)

Last night, one of the little people accidentally head butted me again. He hit me just left of the center of my jaw bone. The pain vibrated across my jaw bone and I had an immediate pain in my ear followed by the feeling of water in my ear. I also had quite a bit of ringing for a while. It isn't exactly painful now, but I am certainly aware of it. Thoughts?

One of the little people said, "Cute Isaac." while watching his father trying to be funny. He may have sounded a tad like his mother. I had to walk away... heh heh (Any guesses as to which one it was?)

---

Put the boys down for their naps a little bit ago. Shawn wasn't interested. Now I am listening to him yell "Come HERE, Isaac!" over and over. (And no, Isaac is not here!) It is wrong that it still makes me laugh, right? Just checking. :-)

---

We've decided that we are "fortunate" that the boys only share a demon. When one is throwing a fit and acting all possessed, the other is calm as can be. Then it switches. It's actually kind of freaky. The good news is that they usually never act horrible at the same time! Disclaimer: Isaac says I must assure you it isn't REALLY a demon. You got that right? Just checking. Ahem.

Shawn didn't sleep today during his nap time, which means it should be an interesting night. Still, it is super funny for me to hear him call to Jason (who is sleeping!), "Jayyyysoooon. WAKE UP! Jayyyyyysoooon. WAKE UP!"

Mostly Wordless Wednesday - The Look of Concentration

Shawn working on his beading:

OK. So all I do is take this stick and put it through the hole on the bead?

Not a problem at all!

Maybe there's a slight problem...

Don't worry mom and dad. I'm going to get this.

I just need to think about it for a second.

Let's try this again...

It goes right in here like this...

(His tongue sticking out is my favorite part. He may get that from one of his parents*. Maybe.)

Almost there...

Success!!!

Keep pulling the string through the bead...

And voila! I did it!

Yeah!

*And yes, that parent is his mother. :-)

Mostly Wordless Wednesday - Kissy, Kissy!

We don't know where he learned it, but he thinks making this face is hilarious. Fortunately, we do, too!

Kissy, kissy, everyone!

The Wonder of Watercolors

Here we are getting our "craft" on again. The other day, the boys had a ton of fun playing with watercolors.

Here's Shawn hamming it up for the camera. (I swear he stops everything he's doing to say, "Cheese!" when he sees that I have it out. Sigh.)

He painted his paper along with his face...

Jason did quite a bit of painting before he realized that the water part of water coloring is 'da BOMB!

Whatever floats your boat, Baby!

We had fun, but I think my favorite part of the whole activity is finally being able to hang some little people's artwork on my wall. It's the little things that make my heart swell...

Sometimes I have to pinch myself. I am just so very lucky! :-)

Bed = 1

Jason = 0

We had the first bed accident today. Jason somehow fell out of his bed this morning. I am not exactly sure what he was doing, but he managed to flip himself around and land with his feet toward the center of the room.

He was not happy when I got there, either. Poor guy. I know it must have really hurt, too, because he spent the next half an hour asking me if I was okay. For those of you not in the know, when he asks if you are okay, that is really code to tell you that HE is the one who is not okay.

My little bruiser...

It's been several hours now, and the mark on his cheek is still an angry red. He may even get a bruise.

---

Bed update: We haven't had any problems since they've transitioned to their big boy beds. (knock, knock, knock -- I don't want to jinx anything!) Neither boy will get out of their beds without permission. It cracks me up to hear them call to me because they want up.

When they figure out that they don't actually need "permission" to leave their beds, I am going to be in big time trouble!

Feeling Crafty...

Today the boys and I had a really good time doing our first craft. We decided to make bracelets! (What? Real men wear bracelets. Plus it is awesome for working on their fine motor skills.)

We started off by picking out our favorite colored pipe cleaners.

Jason's pick was a nice bright red...

While Shawn was feeling a little orange.

Then they got busy putting their beads on their pipe cleaners...

They concentrated really hard and did a great job!

Shawn has one of the beads in his hand.

"Help me, mommy!"

In the end, they did about half of the beading before they had had enough. Not too shabby if I do say so myself.

Then I just twisted the pipe cleaner a few times and pushed it through the beads.

Jason decided that he needed to add yet another embellishment. He made himself a watch with his heart stickers!

The finished products are too cute!

Coming up next in our arts and crafts corner is "The Wonder of Watercolors." Stay tuned!

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes!

My little boys are growing up...

...so they've moved into their very own toddler beds! They have been awesome about the big switch, too. I don't want to jinx us, but no one has made the attempt to escape from bed yet. It is too funny to see them "stuck" in their beds.

P.S. The black mats are under their beds just until they get used to the fact that their beds are no longer cribs. Shawn has already moved himself half in/half out of bed while he was sleeping. I figured the mats wouldn't be such a rude awakening should he find his way to the floor. :-)

Happy 4th of July!

Daddy and Shawn

Mommy and Jason

The Dynamic Duo

Happy 4th of July, everyone!
We hope your day was just as fun and special as ours!

Although we hate to say it, but the fun of our day would be pretty hard to beat.

We flew in the air...

...and climbed all over mommy.

Basically, we just cracked each other up!

See?

It was awesome!

The Lazy Days of Summer

Ah. Summer vacation is the life. We've been having a lot of fun these two weeks. We get up at about 9:15-9:30 every morning (you're jealous, right? hehe) and eat breakfast. We play until lunch/nap time. In the afternoons, we've spent a lot of time outside playing in the backyard doing stuff like this...

We've picked weeds...

...and put them into our cars.

We've taken great delight in attacking mommy.

We've blown a few bubbles.

We have gotten over our dislike of grass...

...and are now fascinated with its beauty.

We finally learned where that little spider kept climbing up in our song...

...fortunately, we didn't find one at the time.

We've cleaned up leaves...

...then had to admire our handy work.

We've taken our cars through the "tun-nen-ul" over and over.

We've worked on our Spanish (this is a bilingual toy that Shawn plays with all the time).

We played with some chalk...

which one of us may have eaten.

Who me?

(Notice the evidence on his face!)

Yes, with more than one color. Ahem.

We've drawn lines and circles...

and are mastering drawing with two hands at once!

We've spent time with family...

Tio Mario, Madison, and the boys.

We grabbed a few noses...

...and declared ourselves numero uno.

We've loved it all! Plus, we are happy that summer has just begun. :-)

That is not to say that this transition to summer vacation has been easy. It is an adjustment to stay home with mommy all day. (I hear she is stricter than grandma.) There have been more than a few tiffs between the dynamic duo...

Mommy! He has my car!

(Both pairs of glasses have been tossed to the side. This one was a heated argument!)

I want it back!

"Boys. Where are your glasses?"

Jason had sense enough to grab his and start to put them back on his face. Shawn needed some "extra" encouragement from mommy.

The car is back with its rightful owner. All is right in the world now.
