Cute Kid Saturday - Way Back Edition
The Dynamic Duo, this week in 2016 - back when they tolerated each other a lot better than they do now. LOL.

Water Dodge
Their new game.
One may have been a LOT more serious about tagging the other (cough, cough...Jason) with the water, but they had fun for a long while.

Friday Five
Another week down, which brings us to two more weeks until spring break for the boys and three for me! We can't wait to get some time off of school.
~~~
Speaking of school, the boys' district has finally said when they'll return to in-person classes. The boys won't be able to go back to in-person learning until we can get them vaccinated, but the return of some students to school will impact their schedules some. It looks as if their teachers will get the option of deciding whether they'll teach those in-person and online concurrently or whether they'll teach them as separate groups. If the teachers choose to teach their classes as separate groups, students who are only online will be shifting their class times to the afternoon. We haven't heard any specifics yet on how these options are going to impact the boys, so we're still in a holding pattern on that.
~~~
We did make some fun (and safe) plans for us to do over spring break, so that is exciting! I haven't told the boys what yet (and they often read this blog), so I'm not yet going to say specifics. It should be awesome, though!
~~~
I think the boys have adjusted to their new room situations. Shawn and Jack have a funny relationship, so it is nice to see them enjoy each other. Shawn also likes that he can see me at my desk while he's on his bed. This really satisfies his desire to know where I am at every moment of the day. LOL. Jason was a little apprehensive about being out on his own, but it didn't take him long at all to realize his mother knew what she was talking about when she said this move was a good idea. :)
~~~
We still have yet to get our planters started! It seems like every weekend has been cold and windy or rainy. We keep trying, though, and one day soon we'll get it done!

Brotherly Love
The room swap seems to be going very well. These two are getting along really well for the most part. :)

Friday Five
This has been quite the action packed week, which seems so odd to write when we never go anywhere. LOL. Still, we managed to fit in a bunch of excitement in the last 7 days.
~~~
As I already mentioned, Jack won his class Spelling Bee this week. He has been waiting for his chance to be in a spelling bee since Jason first won his own class bee three years ago.
It was quite the tense competition there at the end, too. It was Jack and another boy who kept going back and forth for many rounds. Finally, Jack was able to spell his winning word "formation." He was so excited to win!
Fingers crossed for Jack to enjoy the schoolwide bee on Wednesday of next week.
~~~
Jason had a debate that he had to participate in for one of his classes. I'm not sure that he was a fan of the whole debating process, and I definitely know that he wasn't thrilled with the position his team had to take in the debate. His team had to argue that dogs were better pets than cats, and well, he wasn't happy about having to "cheat" on our Gracie. lol
~~~
Shawn's been really funny this week. He has been dragging his feet on doing work this week (and who can blame him?), but we discovered that he gets VERY motivated when he gets the chance to "help" Jack. He throws out the answers to anything we ask him when he thinks it's to help Jack. Ask him the same questions without him thinking he's helping Jack, the kid moans and groans. Helping Jack - he is happy as a clam. Go figure. lol
I should mention that Shawn "helps" Jack, mind you, whenever he can, even from the other room! This afternoon, Jack and I were working on some math problems when I asked Jack what 9 X 6 was. Three rooms away, Shawn called out, "OH! I know!!!" It was funny.
Also, Jack isn't a fan of Shawn "helping" him...because OF COURSE!
~~~
Overheard: “Dad, if I want to know about the law, who do I go to? You or mom?”
**The answer for this one was dad.

Friday Five
This week kind of flew by, and we are all quite content about it, too. Nothing major happened, so we'll call it a success, too!
~~~
Shawn had a particularly good week at school, too. One of his male teachers had his baby at home with him one day. He was getting quite flustered because the baby wasn't having being quiet and content while her daddy taught class. Shawn was too funny when he realized how frustrated the teacher was getting about the whole situation. "All you can do is try your best, Mr. M," Shawn told him. The teacher chuckled and managed to end the class on a high note. Made both his dad and I proud of Shawn's kindness.
~~~
We've been having little out of tune musicals around these parts and often resort to singing conversations rather than talking with each other. It's pretty funny to hear the responses the boys sing to us.
~~~
One of Jack's assignments this week was to create a "chain reaction machine." Oh my did he have so much fun thinking about, and then creating his chain reaction contraption. It involved dominos, marbles, a Hot Wheels car, and paper. We recorded it on his school device, so I can't really access it to show here, but it was too cute!
~~~
I think Jason has officially converted to a full fledged teenager. He wasn't quite there with his sleeping in. He wasn't quite there with the know it all attitude. What pushed him over the edge was that when he has his earbuds in, he can not hear his parents talking to him even when we are right next to him, but he goes insane and demands his brother be quiet when his brother breathes within a 20 foot radius of him. Selective teenage deafness is a real thing, I tell you. lol

Brotherly Love
These two are the best of buds or are driving each other up the wall. There doesn't seem to be an in-between.
It's funny how they fill the chair up with their bodies now. They're getting so big!
This picture, though, sums up how they really feel about each other. ❤️

Supposedly It's Friendly
...but I'm not so sure.
"Good game, Jason...but you cheated."
Sigh. We're still working on the good sportsmanship thing. LOL
