Found in Photos

The boys have their iPads connected to my iPhone, so I often get random pictures they took in my photo stream. This is today's offering. He was very proud of this design.

Smores Pie

Shawn and I made Smores Pie this afternoon. Everyone but Shawn thought it was pretty yummy. (We're always our own worst critics, right? lol)

Morning Find

You never know what you're going to find around these parts. This greeted me in the kitchen when I got up this morning...

I got a vague "He's putting on a show..." when I asked.

Glider

Shawn and I put together an elastic band propelled glider today. So cool!

Jack was trying it out after Shawn was done. :)

Creative Stuff

Jason did a little drawing this week. I am quite impressed by his creation!

"Funky Monke" is his brand. All rights reserved, obviously. :)

Friday Five

The boys made it through their first week back from spring break. Things went pretty well, which is nice. Next week starts hybrid classes start in-person, so their schedules will change. Jack starts his new schedule on Monday. Shawn and Jason start theirs on Thursday.

9 weeks left of school for them. Yay!

~~~
Things are getting exciting in the boys' math classes. Jack started working on long division (remainders - gasp!). The other two are working on solving variables and graphing. Fun!
~~~

Shawn and I made cupcakes again this week. This week we made triple chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing. Yum - my.

I love that he has taken an interest in baking.

~~~
Jason decided that Pez containers are too short and don't hold enough candy in them. He decided he wanted to create a container that is much larger. Here is his vision.
~~~

Jack was telling me about how he thinks his life will be when he's older. He says he's going to marry Jocelyn, a girl in his class, and have 5 kids. He's going to live in a red house here in town and drive a white car. He has no vision about his job, but he does know he is going to do lots of fun things - we can pretty much assume he'll be independently wealthy if lots of fun things are in his plan. LOL

Friday Five

We are now ALL officially on spring break! Let the good times begin!

~~~
We have some fun things planned for this weekend. Can't wait! (Also can't say because it will be a surprise for the boys.)
~~~

Plans for the weekend include some painting, some egg decorating, and some crafts. Here's hoping we can get to it all.

~~~
We finally got the boys' school schedules for when in-person hybrid learning starts. They all will now start their classes at 12:30 and go to 2:30 (Jack) or 2:40 (Jay and Shawn). It's definitely going to take some getting used to, but the good thing is that I will be done with my teaching and be about home when they start. That will make things a lot less stressful for everyone, I think.
~~~

I had to order the boys all new pants this week. We haven't really been out since last year, and apparently they've all grown a ton since then. I ended up getting them all longer, "nicer" sweat pants. I'm not sure how any of us are going to do back in jeans after this time at home!

Easter Cookie Decorating

We made some cookies and decorated them today. They look pretty cute, too. :)

Um...Okay Then

I don't know what they're planning, but it seems like this is developing into some sort of big production. The polymer clay men multiply daily!

Friday Five

The boys have one more week until spring break. They are excited about that. They are even more excited that they also have this Monday off for a teacher in-service day. lol

~~~
We ordered a bigger pool for summer swimming. They are going to LOVE it when it is finally warm enough to put it out. The funniest thing is that somehow we managed to have 2 of these larger pools delivered, yet I only ordered 1 - for sure. I double and triple checked! So...not sure what to do about that exactly. LOL
~~~

Jack's class finished reading Island of the Blue Dolphins today. I'm not sure whether he truly enjoyed the book, though. Despite regularly giving every book he reads 5 stars, this book only earned 4 stars. Very curious in the world of Jack. He won't say why the book scored lower than every other book he's read either!

The other two boys have both finished reading The Outsiders in their classes. They both were pretty "meh" about it, though. I think it is true we have finally entered the teen years. I suspect even if they liked the book, they'd still give it a "meh" response.

~~~
Jack is eagerly waiting his birthday. He tells me several times a day about the various items he is coveting. He has at least three different lists going, too. It's so funny!
~~~

Jason was hard at work filming, editing, and uploading content for his YouTube channel. He is quite the creative kid!

Cupcakes

Shawn and I made cupcakes today! He was very excited to make them, but I think he was most excited to deliver them to everyone so they could try his handiwork. It was too cute!

Poem

Jack wrote a poem for school today that made me chuckle:

Jack in the Boxes
They have cranks to turn
They make you learn.
They like to pop
And go to the top.
They are fun for you
If you like them too.

This was after learning Langston Hughes “wrote about things that were important to him.” His task was to write about something that was important to him ... obviously that’s a Jack in the box! Lol

Valentine's Craft

These guys got some Lowe's kids' club projects this week. I think they had fun. :)

Now all I need are some flowers to put in them. ❤️

For art this week, Jack was supposed to draw presidents Washington and Lincoln. He did such a good job, too!

Mission Project

Jack worked so hard on his project and paragraph!

Here is his paragraph:

"I made the San Buenaventura mission for my project. I learned many interesting things about it. First I learned it has five bells. They were borrowed from Mission Santa Barbara. Second, I learned it was founded in 1782 on March 31. It was founded by friar Junipero Serra. It was the ninth mission. Third, I learned Chumash people live there. They made leather, wine, and olive oil. I also learned the bells would tell them to do things like when to have breakfast. Lastly I learned this was the only mission that had wooden bells that were used only during the week before Easter. The San Buenaventura mission is an interesting place to visit."

I think he did a FABULOUS job!
