Halloween 2013

Although not exactly one hundred percent, Shawn was feeling better today and was able to make the school costume parade!

He was happy to see us there. :)

Calling Dr. Shawn
Jason was just all around jazzed about the who thing. He couldn't wait to walk in the parade.
He beamed the whole time.

Walking around the bike track in the kindie playground.

This. Is. Layla.
Apparently Jason asked for a hug. She was
happy to oblige him. lol

Both boys had a great day at school after the parade. I am so glad that Shawn made it through and had a good day.

This evening, we headed over to the mall for trick or treating.

Daddy and Jack doing a little window shopping while they walked.

Jason making his rounds of the mall.

Shawn was tired, but he did managed to
get into the whole trick or treating thing, too.

Grandma leading Jack around
He got so many compliments on his costume!

Jason's favorite part of the night was that he got lots of candy. Shawn's favorite part was that he was good. lol

Showing off his costume at grandma's

This last one is of Jack. He is too cute!

He was awesome about his costume.
He just rolled with it, even when his mask made it hard to see.

All in all, I hereby dub Halloween 2013 a success!

Happy Halloween!

Mostly Wordless Wednesday - Brotherly Love

Shawn was not feeling well today, so he stayed up from school. (This wasn't exactly a surprise for us as he woke me up sometime around 4 am to tell me he didn't feel good. He then proceeded to remind me of that fact every fifteen or so minutes until I had to get up for work, but I digress.)

Anyway, Shawn stayed home while Jason went off to school on his own. This evening, Shawn wanted to know if he'd be able to go to school tomorrow. I told him I didn't know, we'd have to see how he felt in the morning.

Jason heard our conversation and rushed over to Shawn...

He planted a series of kisses on Shawn's cheek and said,
"Feel better soon, Shawnie. I want you to go to school and
have fun tomorrow."
Then he gave him a big squeeze.

My heart melted at the cuteness. Got to love that brotherly love!

Boy, What You Got on Your Head?

Jack's rocking Dora Explore undies on his head.

Mr. Tough Guy
He sure does make me smile. :)

We've Got Ourselves Another Funny Guy on Our Hands

Jack when he saw what is growing in our lawn...

"Wake up flower. Wake up. Time get up, flower!"

Funny, Jack. Those are weeds not flowers. lol.

I guess that means it's time to get out there and get rid of all those blooming "flowers" on the lawn! :)

Cute Big Boy Saturday - Birthday Eve

Can you believe we are on the boys' birthday eve? How did that happen?

The boys decorated birthday crowns today. They looked so cute in their creations!

Shawn is a bit blurry, but he's pretty happy with his crown.

Jason couldn't have been prouder of his!
We had a little family birthday eve celebration.

He was so excited to open presents and blow out his candle!

Shawn's turn was first. It took Shawn a bit to blow out the candle.
Jason decided to help him. That's a good brother. :)

Jason's turn was next.
He had no trouble blowing out his candle!

Then we had them both blow out their candles at the same time.
(Shawn wanted to hear the song again, so we figured why not? lol)

They opened a few presents.

Even Jack thought this birthday party thing was pretty great.

Shawn shared all of his wrapping paper and ribbon with Jack.
Jack promptly threw both on the floor.

They had such a good time! I believe that tonight was declared "the best day ever!" several times over. That can only mean they thought it was pretty awesome. lol

When I tucked the boys into bed and kissed them goodnight, I was struck by the thought that I was saying goodbye to a magical year--the year the boys officially left toddlerhood behind them and became these independent and smart creatures full of opinions, attitude, and fun. This year they became actual people right before my eyes!

In approximately five hours from now, the boys will be moving into new territory, the year of six.

SIX!

Wow.
Five was filled with wonder and imagination and delight. If the year of six is even half as good to us as the last, we are in for a pretty amazing ride.

More Kid Logic

"Mom, I think I know why it takes so long to have a birthday."

Me: Really? Why is that?

"It's cuz you can't eat cake and ice cream every day. You need to space it out."

~~~
The treat bags went over very well. Jason was especially tickled to get a thank you hug from his number one fan. lol
School Treats
The boys' birthday is on Sunday, so we are sending treats with the boys tomorrow to share with their friends at school. The teacher's letter specifically asked we not send food treats for birthdays. (Of course, every birthday so far has sent home cupcakes, but whatever.) Instead, I let the boys each pick out a toy to give to their classmates.
I don't know why I always wait until the last minute to
do these things! I nearly fainted when I saw what awaited me
tonight when I finally opened the box. lol
Jason chose foam airplanes. Shawn chose stampers.
A sample of what they picked out to take to school.
In the end, I decided not to assemble the airplanes. I was not looking forward to a long night of putting airplanes together figured they'd travel to and from school much better that way. ;)
Brown paper party bags!
Both are happy about what they chose, we followed the directions, and it was not too pricey! Yea!
Jason in particular is super excited to give out the treats tomorrow. Shawn was mildly interested, too. I can't wait to hear how it goes!
Mostly Wordless Wednesday - The Star's Poster
As promised, here's the completed poster. :)
Showing off all of his hard work.
I am 5 years old.
My favorite animal is a bird.
My favorite color is red.
My favorite food is hotdogs.
A shot of the bottom half of the poster.
If I had one wish, I would wish for a whole world made of candy.
(Yep. He's my boy.)
When I grow up, I want to be a police officer.
(Is that not the cutest picture?! The ears are large so he can hear 'real good.')
My favorite thing to do is hang out with my family.
(Yes, he drew Target. We hang out at Target. Sigh.)
Sea World is my favorite place.
(Actually, the hotel when we went to Sea World was his favorite place.)
His self portrait and a picture.
His satisfied smile after finishing the poster.
He presented his poster to the class today. He said it went great!
Say What?
Oh these boys are always at it ...
J: Mom, I like the National Album.
Me: It's the "National Anthem" not "Album."
J: Yeah, I like that one, too.
J (a few seconds later): Especially if it's country.
~~~

Me: Shawn, let's go do your homework now.
S: Wait just a minute, momma. I'm talkin' to Jason.
Me: Let's go, Shawn.
S: Mom. I'm almost finished.
S: Jason, whatcha' doing?

Me: Sigh.

~~~
J: Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb. Mary had a little lamb, its face was white as snow...
~~~

Jack (while standing outside yesterday morning): Bye, bye black ducks!
Me: Uh, Jack, those are crows!

Star

Jason is Star of the Week at school this week. This is a special time for the class to get to know him better and for him to enjoy special privileges.

Tonight he started working on his special poster. The class will get to interview Jason and look at his cool poster when he takes it to school on Wednesday.

Working on his self portrait.

Isn't it awesome, mom?

He drew himself in his new camouflage shirt. lol

He's super excited about the whole thing!

Just as a FYI, Shawn's week will be in April. :)

Cute Boys Saturday

Snuggle time with mommy. They get so lovable when they're sick.

A Fun Weekend

Or at least you'd think that from looking at these pictures. lol

This was a brief moment of cheer for the trio while taking a bath this evening. (The rest of the weekend was spent being cranky, feeling sick, and lying on their parents human pillows. Ahem)

Hugs

Playing in the water (Jack actually liked this. So did Shawn as you can see.)

Smiling for the camera. :)
