The Fair

We had a great time at the county fair this year. The boys had a lot of fun watching all of the people, and happily, this year they loved the animals!

Well, okay. They mostly loved the animals.

Fine. They liked the animals.

Sigh. They tolerated the animals.

But, there were much fewer tears, so I'm going to call the experience a success!

What is that? A smile? Yes, it is a smile! I think Shawny enjoyed petting this dear.

Jason liked the animal experience a lot better than Shawn. Here he is talking to a little goat.

The goat wanted to give him a kiss! (Jason wasn't so fond of that, though.)

Now the goat has decided to come after me. He was an aggressive little guy.

This deer followed Isaac around and kept grabbing at his butt. It was too funny.

Here we are looking at the kaleidoscopes. The boys loved these. They were fascinated with all of the beautiful colors. Shawn in particular thought they were pretty cool.

Jason also like the kaleidoscopes. He said they reminded him of the beautiful lights in the sky. (fireworks--He asks several times a week when he can see the beautiful lights in the sky again.)

Before we left, the boys got the chance to eat some yummy french fries and have some cotton candy.

All in all, we had a great day!

Mostly Wordless Wednesday - The Seat

The closest we've come to potty training around these parts...

Jason, wearing a sweatshirt that is too big for me, sitting on the potty watching Ni Hao, Kai-lan. He was apparently inspired by one of the characters, who he swore was going potty (I think the character was only pouting because he was mad). Anyway, I asked Jason if he wanted to sit on his own potty. He agreed.

I called the whole experience a success. We are getting closer!

The Flower

so basically the same experience...

It smells so good and is so pretty!

...yet such very different reactions.

What is that thing and why are you asking me to smell it?

Yuck!

I love that they constantly remind us all just how individual they are. Sure, they're twins, but more than that, they are themselves. :-)

**To be fair, Shawny is really just smelling the flower. It just looks like he doesn't enjoy what he's doing.

Homecoming #2

Last week I was away at a work conference in San Diego. I was gone for five nights and nearly six full days. It was hard being away from my boys for so long. But, if I had never left, I would never have received a reception like this when I returned.

Jason screamed "Mommy! Mommy!" and jumped into my arms before I had even had a chance to put my purse down.

I love his little look there. (I'll need to remember that face when he is throwing a fit and telling me no.)

It took Shawn a bit longer to find me, but once he did...he hasn't stopped hugging me since. :-)

They love me! They love me! They really love me!

And that makes me one very lucky girl.

Homecoming #1

Grandma's home! She finally came home on July 30.

We couldn't be happier. She brought us all some gifts (we got t-shirts from the North Pole!), but the boys were mostly interested in getting comfortable where they belong--her lap!

Jason did a lot of smiling...

He did a whole lot of staring up into her eyes, too... (I think he was wondering if what he was seeing was real.)

Shawny was pretty happy to see that grandma was no longer in "'laska" as well. He planted himself on her lap and cried when she moved. He had to make sure she didn't go too far, you know.

"Is it really her, mommy?" Shawn asked.

We are all glad she's home safe and sound. She said that it didn't seem like her trip was very long, but I have to say it was very long for the boys and me.

I think the next time she decides she's going to be away for this long, she's going to have to take all of us with her! :-)
