Conversations With 3 Year Old

Him (pointing stabbing at my face): This is your eye. This is your nose. This is your teet,

Me: Teeth.

Him: Teet. This is your teet.

Me: Teetttthhhhh...

Him (getting annoyed): I know! Teet!

Me: ...

Him: This is your arm. This is your tummy. And this is your kneed. Ouch! I hurt my kneed!

Me (pretending to kiss his "owie"): Knee.

Him: Kneed.

Me: Kneeeeee

Him: KNEED.

Me: Sigh.

Conversations with a 3 Year Old

Said after a sigh, "Whew. What a day."

For the record, it was an hour before his bedtime. He didn't do anything out of the ordinary today. At that moment, he was actually resting on daddy's lap, so I'm not exactly sure what made the day so exhausting. Lol.

Conversations With a Three Year Old

Jack spiked a fever this evening, so I gave him a dose of Advil. He drank the liquid down like usual. A few moments later, he jumped up off of the couch and went running to his father hollering, "That was es-cus-ting, mommy! Es-cus-ting!" as he went. He made a final declaration of how "es-cus-ting" it was to his dad and then made his way back to the couch. lol.

The funniest part is that he asked for more ten minutes later. Sigh.

Conversations with a 3 Year Old

"Come into my office," he says to his brother. I think it's safe to say the room was a huge hit with the littlest.

Chillaxin' in his room. :)

Today's Conversations With the Littles...

Approximately two seconds after I tucked the big boys into bed tonight, they started calling for us. When Isaac got in there approximately three seconds after I tucked them into bed, Jason's tears were flowing.

Isaac: Why are you crying, Jason?

Jay: These are the tears left over from last night's bad dream.

For the record, the bad dream he had was two nights ago and he was fine last night and all day today. There was much more discussion between the two of them, and Jason was quite content before he went off to sleep.

~~~
While sitting in the living room this afternoon, Shawn randomly started bouncing up and down and waving his arms.
Me: Shawn, what are you doing?
Shawn: I'm getting my grove on, mom.
Okie dokie then.
~~~

I found Jack back in the hamper eating who knows what while playing a supposed to be hidden LeapPad.

Me: What are you doing, Jack?

Jack (shocked): Oh! I found you!

Way to play it cool, kid.

Conversations With Three Year Olds

Jack has finally shown some interest in this whole potty training business. Generally, though, he likes to sit down and pop right back up three seconds later.

To keep him sitting a while longer, I've taken to giving him a few squares of toilet paper for him to tear up and push down into the toilet.

The other night, he pushed the last piece of TP down between his legs. He stared down for a moment and gasped, shocked. When he looked up at me a second later, his eyes were wide as he said breathlessly, "Oh! See elephant!"

I still can't help to laugh when I think about it. It was too funny!

Conversations With 3 Year Olds

Scene: We're all in the living room. Nothing big is happening. The boys are watching cartoons...

Jack: Do you smell the cheese?

And with that he laughed as he ran into the bedroom. lol.

Overheard

Jack tried for quite some time to break into Jason's storage tub that was hidden under the bed. He banged, he pulled, and he pounded, all to no avail. He was frustrated but determined to get to the forbidden goods the tub promised.

We left him to his own devices while he worked.

When he did finally manage to figure out how to open it he exclaimed, "Yo Ho Ho, Matey!" and started muttering about finding gold doubloons. I imagine he was trying to hurry off to go hide his loot. ;)

What's That Supposed to Mean?

Overheard:

Isaac: Come on Jay, let's go eat.

J: Dad! Why's mom cooking dinner?

The sad thing is that he was really genuine in his confusion.

You know you don't like to cook when even your kids are surprised you're in the kitchen. Come on guys...I'm not that bad!

More Conversations With a Three Year Old...

Shawn has taken an interest in a magazine sale flyer from school. He loves to look at all the pictures and read all the letters. Tonight, though, he was being a bit lazy and was trying to read the magazine upside down.

---

Me: Turn your magazine around, please.

S: No.

Me: I asked you to turn it around.

S: I don't want to.

Me: Shawn! I told you to turn it around. Read it right.

S: No...

I want to read it LEFT.

Now how can you argue with that?

---

Ba dum dum.

His hilarious comedic timing continues. :-?

Music to My Ears

Daddy: Come on Shawn, let's go put on your pajamas.

Shawn: Not right now. I'm reading.

Daddy: You sound just like your mother.

Mommy: (Grinning wildly) Boo yeah! That's my boy! :-)

More Conversations With a Three Year Old

Grandma has been teaching the boys the days of the week. When I went to pick the boys up today, they told me what they learned.

You know what happens on Sunday?

Come on.

You know what the answer is going to be, right?

It's the day for SUN! Lol.

My kids are brilliant!

Vocabulary Lesson

Smellsy [smel-zee]: noun The things that live between your toes: Mommy, look at the blue smellsies in my toes.

Related forms:
smell·sies, plural

Synonyms:
sock lint
toe jam

In case you were wondering, smellsies smell gross (according to the boys). They are also incredibly funny, especially when we find them on other people's feet.

Perfect Moment Monday - Two Minutes

After a long, eventful day, one without a nap, my boy said tonight, "Mommy, I want to go to bed for some love."

And that is just what we did.

We got in his bed (no small feat as it is a toddler bed!) and snuggled...

for about two minutes.

Then he told me not to move, got up, and left the room to play with his cars.

That's okay.

I'll take two minutes over nothing anytime. :-)

You're Going to Think Bad News, Mister...

We've got a new phrase around these parts. Where do they learn these things?!

Getting the boys out of the car:

Boy: I've got some good news, and I've got some bad news.
Isaac: Oh really? And what is that?
Boy: The good news is that we're going to grandma's tomorrow.
Isaac: That is good news. What's the bad news?
Boy: The bad news is that we're home.

Ba dum dum.

Um...the little turkey. Sigh.

Overheard

Overheard while Isaac was getting the big boys ready for the bath:

Isaac: Um...what are you doing?

Boy: I'm tickling my penis.

Isaac: Why are you doing that?

Boy: Cuz I like it!

---

Ahem. Okie dokie. That's about all I have to say about that! :-)

30 Day Challenge Bonus #4

Me: (humming a Yo Gabba Gabba song) Ugh. I have that song stuck in my head.

J: Huh?

Me: I have a song stuck in my head.

J: What does that mean?

Me: It means I keep thinking about a song over and over.

J: Boy...that must really hurt.

Yes, my boy, sometimes it does hurt--especially when it is a Yo Gabba Gabba song! :-)

---

S: Momma!

Me: Yes, Shawn?

S: Momma...I forgot.

Me: What did you forget?

S: I don't know cuz I forgot.

Well that sure does explain a lot, now doesn't it.
