Bring It. I'm Ready!

"Hey, mom. Are you going to try and trick us again on April Fool's Day?"

Why yes, dear boy, yes....

He actually wanted me to figure out some tricks to play. I am so happy to oblige him! :)

And Then Just Like That, He's 4

We had a birthday celebration for Jack last night. He was so excited for his birthday!

He blew out his candles.

He opened his presents. This Jack-in-the-box was by far his favorite gift.

He loves that thing. (Shawn decidedly does not love the thing, which has made for some not so fun moments!)

We blew up some balloons.

And decorated for his big day. He thought it was pretty awesome.

We celebrated Jack's actual birthday by heading to the zoo! Jack got to feed the giraffe.

He thought it was awesome, but was a little overwhelmed by the size of the giraffe's tongue!

Ha! Who can blame him? Look at the length of that thing!

He was nonstop the entire time we were there.

He climbed in things and over things. He was EVERYWHERE!

He made it almost to the end of the trip before he needed a break. Daddy's shoulder is the best place for that.

And a nice one with me. (Don't ask me how we managed to get a good picture. The boy was practically climbing all over me! Ha! You wouldn't know it to look at this perfectly posed shot, now would you?)

 We ended the night with another candle to mark the start of year number 4.

I think he had a really nice day!

Happy Birthday, Jack! I am so excited to see what this next year will bring us all!

The Last Night of Three

Oh this boy.

This crazy and maddening and wonderful and fun and AMAZING boy.

This boy who loves orange, being scared, jumping, Popsicles, and the song "All About the Bass."

This boy who is ALWAYS on the go.

We just tucked him in bed and kissed away the magical and oh so fun year of three. 

Tomorrow he'll wake up 4.

Sweet Dreams my boy. May the year of four bring us all as much joy and laughter as three and so much more!

Conversations With 7 Year Old

Him (while making a loud sucking noise): Mom, the animal doesn't care if I suck on him.

Me: He doesn't? That's pretty gross.

Him: He doesn't care, though.

---a few minutes later

From the living room, I can hear the same loud sucking noise.

Me: Stop sucking on your stuffed animal!

Him: I'm not! I'm sucking on me!

Me: Sigh. Well stop.

Him: Fine! I won't suck on ANYTHING! 

Me: Sigh.

Daily Ritual

One part of our daily ritual is for me to ask the boys about being nice. They're supposed to think about a time in the day when they are nice to someone else and when someone else is nice to them. This is what they told me tonight:

Jay: Nicole was nice to me when she helped me find me sunglasses before PE. I was nice to (the teacher) because I gave her a hug.

Shawn: I was nice to Jen because I rubbed her back. Jack was nice to me because he gave me a kiss.

How sweet are these two? :)
