Friday Five

I'm so proud of Shawn. He had an ophthalmologist appointment today and totally rocked it. That's pretty huge because he still has a lot of anxiety about doctors in general. (Who could blame him with all he's been through?!) His eyesight has improved considerably, too; he needs new glasses because his current script is too strong.

Apparently Jack is going through another growth spurt. His shoe size jumped from a size 13.5 to a size 2 in about a month. I knew Jack has been eating a lot lately!

Speaking of growth, I'm in the process of going through the boys' drawers to weed out all of the clothes that no longer fit. Let's just say that I've found a lot of clothes to donate. Jack is now a size 7; Jason is a size 10; and Shawn is a size 8! These kids are growing too fast. :)

Somehow our summer is speeding toward a finish line. I'm not sure how that is possible, because I swear we just got out for summer break yesterday. This week we picked up the boys' school issued iPads...the boys go back to school in two and a half weeks. :(

Today, the boys had their cousin come over for a play date. They had a blast swimming in the pool. We can't wait for her to come again!

Summer Bucket List 2017 - Let's Go to the Movies!

Today we all went to see the boys' very first movie at the movie theater--Cars 3. I don't know how we got so lucky, but we managed to pick the movie and time that allowed for us to be the ONLY people in the entire theater. We sat smack dab in he center of the theater. 😊 It was pretty awesome!

The boys loved the movie and had a great time snacking on popcorn and candy from the concession stand. So fun!

You know you've been to Target a few times when the cashier not only knows your kids' names, but she can correctly identify the one kid you have with you. And I'm not referring to just one cashier, either. There are several who can do this! LOL

Friday Five

Guess what arrived at our house this week? Bikes! I think we have some bike riding to do this weekend! :)

Jason lost his 16th tooth this week! It's crazy to see how many teeth this kid has lost already!

Isaac and the boys have always changed the words to songs to make them fit situations that come up. It was funny to hear Shawn and Jack doing that themselves while they played one morning this week. The took turns reciting Green Eggs and Ham passages as they played, exactly how they would do with Isaac. They adapted the rhymes to go with whatever they were doing. It was hilarious!

We are still doing yoga each night. The boys seem to know what the different poses are now, too. 

I actually got some other yoga dvds for us to use, but that was vetoed fairly quickly. Looks like we'll continue with our first yoga dvd for a while longer. lol

The school called to say it was time for us to pick up the boys' school iPads next week. How can this be? Didn't we just get out for summer vacation yesterday?! Sigh. This summer is going by too quickly!

Conversations With 9 Year Olds

Yesterday, while watching Zootopia, Jason came up with this gem:

"Mom, they're supposed to be a place for everyone, but they don't support aquatic life. That's not right."

I'm so in love with this comment. My boy is thinking of the world around him and contemplating fairness and what's right. Makes me so proud!

Raise Your Hand

Yay! The blog is back. Thank you to the blog designer who originally created this space back in 2011. She came in and saved the day even though she doesn't even work with Blogger blogs any more! She was even creative and made sure this kind of thing won't happen again. Thank you so much! If you are interested in any kind of blog theme for a WordPress blog, Studio Mommy (April) is your woman. One thing I have always done is randomly raise my hand in the air while I am sitting or lying down. I have no idea why this originally started, but I can tell you that it is comfortable, so much so, that I'll often not know I am doing it until my hand and arm are fully asleep! lol

Anyway, the behavior is different enough to get commented on when someone new sees me do it. (Thankfully, Isaac is long over this strange quirk of mine and no longer even notices.)

The funniest thing to me is that the boys do it, too. It isn't something that I "taught" them, although they may have seen me do it. Still, they pretty much assume the same position as I do.

Best Day!

 Today, all the boys got to enjoy a day at the beach through the Best Day Foundation. They. Had. A. BLAST!

Shawn was paired up with his buddy, Matt, who patiently built sand castle after sand castle with Shawn while Shawn talked his ear off. Shawn was not as into the water this time around, although he did eventually go into the ocean and played for a bit. He also played a bit in the tide as it came in to fill the holes he made. It was so cute!

Jason and his buddy, Casey, also spent a lot of time building in the sand. Together they fashioned an intricate castle that was about 3 feet wide, complete with a filled moat. lol. Jason also went out into the ocean (pretty far out, I have to say) and did some surfing! He was awesome!

This was Jack's first time participating in the program. He rocked pretty much everything! With the help of his buddy, Hanna, he surfed, he body boarded, he even played in the water! He loved it!

So much fun. Pictures to come!

Friday Five

This evening I went to check the blog only to find that Photobucket had locked the blog with a message that said I needed to update my account to enable 3rd party hosting. The update comes with a rather hefty monetary charge--this is especially significant because the site was free up unitl now. I'm not sure what I am going to do to rectify the situation, but the fact that this space has nearly 10 years of memories that I would like to keep, it is probable that I will end up having to pay to get access to the blog. Then I'll just have to work on removing the Photobucket trace from the blog so this won't happen again. I still haven't decided for sure what I'll end up doing, and I am researching possible things I can do on my end, but to say I am frustrated and angry would be an understatement.

Jason is about to lose another tooth! It's barely hanging on by a thread.

Jack seems to have caught a cold. He started to get congested on Wednesday afternoon. He's still congested and grumpy. Yay.

I went away for a few days this week and left the boys home with their dad. Shawn has been pretty much glued to my side since I got back. It's sweet. :)

The pool continues to be the highlight of the boys' day. They can't wait until they can go out and swim. The water is a tad cold, though, so I'm trying to find a heater that will help warm the water some.

So Proud!

I'm just so proud of this kid. Last year, he was leery of the water and didn't really want to be in the pool without either Isaac or myself in the water with him. He was unsure and timid. This year, however, Shawn is ROCKING the pool. Not only is he in the pool by himself, he is working on teaching his brother how to swim! LOL!

Way to go, Shawn!
