Cute Boy Saturday - The Fieldtrip in Review

The boys had a fabulous time on their fieldtrip!

I mentioned before that both were a little nervous about the bus ride, but I am happy to announce that both thought the bus ride was pretty cool. I think Isaac's presence on the bus made it even more fun for them, too. :)

Once we got to the farm, the class climbed the haystacks for a class picture. Shawn was on the haystack, too, but nature called before we were able to get a picture of him with the class. Isaac snapped this shot of Jason with the class (yellow hat) while Shawn and I were off at the potty. lol.

 

 

After the class picture, the kids were split up into different groups to go look at the animals. We strolled along, checking everything out, and were quite happy. We were happy, that is, until we had the crap scared out of us by the loudest peacock I've ever heard. We decided that maybe the animals were not for us and headed to the grass to recover.

The farm gave a pretty cool lesson on plants. Their presenter taught them all about the five parts of a plant, and talked about fruits and vegetables. The kinder kids from the boys' school were model participants. (That is so not what I'm used to when I go on fieldtrips with my eighth graders!) Their hands shot up after every question. They called out answers when she wanted. It was very cute!

Then the kids all got to go on a tractor ride to the strawberry fields. Jason was a little worried about it, too, but he was a champ and had loads of fun.

They were telling knock, knock jokes to each other.
Every one had the word "poop" in it, which made them all HILARIOUS. Sigh.

When we got to the field, each kid was given a plastic container to fill with strawberries!

We then headed to the picnic area to eat lunch and play a few games.

The best thing was that Shawn even got to win a game and call out, too. (no pictures of that sadly)

We got the boys home, cleaned up a little, and headed back out to go have some ice cream at Yogurtland!

Jason chose chocolate ice cream with gummy worms and candy toppings.

out some toppings to eat. :)

It was a great day all around!

Tomorrow's the Big Day!

We are finally down to one more sleep before the boys' big day...their first fieldtrip! Both are excited about going, Jason because of the bus (although he is worried about that, too) and Shawn because he gets to go someplace with his friends (even Auggie? and Alec? and Jessica gets to go?).

I'm excited to get to go, too. It should be fun. The boys will get to ride a tractor and pick strawberries, which we already know they'll love.

Summer Bucket List 2014

Well, today marks the unofficial start of summer (YEA!), and we are fast approaching the end of the school year for both the boys and myself.

As we all know, the start of summer means it is time for our second annual bucket list!

It's time to start the fun brainstorming ideas. As we think of new things we can do, I'll add them to our list. Of course you know I'll be documenting like crazy with pictures and blog posts. For the last  two years, the lists had 39 items. My goal is to have approximately that many things on this year's list from which to choose.

I love how these lists get me thinking and, more importantly, planning so we can make the summer fun. We manage to do about half of our list each year. I think that is pretty amazing. More importantly, the boys end up having a lot of fun.

This is what I have for year's list, which includes some carryovers from last year.

A Day In the Life

It was a beautiful day today! What better way to celebrate the perfection than by playing outside?

 

 

I'm still getting used to my boy without glasses...
he's getting so old all of a sudden.

It wouldn't be a picture session unless he made a face or two.
