Cute Big Boy Saturday

He didn't care for his brothers splashing around and being "too rough" in the big pool. We solved that problem by adding a little wading pool. This guy LOVES his new little personal pool! He wants to sit in it and hang out all day long. :)

Friday Five

The boys have spent every single day outside in the pool. They are loving it!

Speaking of swimming, I am going through suntan lotion like there is no tomorrow. I invested in some long sleeved rash guards to see if that helps. Fingers crossed!

Jason had a check-up at the pediatrician yesterday. He is doing so well! He's now 79 pounds (no wonder I could barely carry him to bed the other day!) and is right on target. He even handled his shot like a BOSS. :)

Shawn has been looking forward to Friday all week so he can go to a "new" Target. LOL. This kid is on a mission to complete his summer bucket list item - to visit as many different Targets as he can so he can complete his car collection. :)

Shawn was sitting on the couch, eating a hot dog this week when he called out, “Mom, my tooth fell out.” I didn't believe him at first. He was still chewing, how could his tooth fall out?! Sure enough, he held out his tooth, a molar, and told me it looked like the Tooth Fairy was due for a visit. lol

He surprises me every single time. He never says a word about anything being loose until he hands me a tooth.

Dad: "A washer is what you put..."

S: "Does it squirt water everywhere?"

Dad: "No, it's not that kind of washer..."

Friday Four

We are now all officially out for summer! I got out today. :) Let the celebrations begin!

Looks like we are in the midst of yet another growth spurt. Jason's feet are now only 3/4" smaller than mine...Yikes!

Shawn's also growing. He feels so solid all of a sudden, and his shirts are now a little short...he's moved up to size 10. (Jason is size 12. Jack is size 8.)

Our Monarch butterfly caterpillars are back in full force! It truly is so much fun to watch them grow. I think we all love searching for chrysalises, too. ❤️

Jack has decided that summer vacation means we are going somewhere. When I got off of work today, he promptly went to go pack his backpack. He was ready to take off for our "summer vacation" now that I am out for summer. Ha! It's been a bit challenging trying to convince him that summer vacation isn't exactly what he's thinking.

It's been a long couple of weeks around these parts. It's a Friday Four kind of day. :)

Jack has discovered Fruit By the Foot...which is kind of funny because the stuff is almost long enough to actually reach his foot! lol

Summer Vacation

So far, summer vacation means...

• staying up late
• sleeping in 
• playing outside
• fighting with brothers
• eating picnics in the living room
• blanket forts (and circuses, depending on the time of day)
• Xbox live and playing with friends over the internet
• an attempted campfire outside (unsuccessful, so next attempt will be this weekend. lol)
• iPad play
• reading
• more fighting with brothers
• snuggles with mom and dad
• movie watching

I think they're doing it right! Besides, we're only two days in! lol!

How Can You Tell It's Summer?

How can you tell it's summer? It's easy, really. Summer is full of playing outside and sun tans. This is Shawn's tan after a few days outside...

Yeah, that's my hand underneath his.

I love how tan he gets! I wish I could tan like him. :)

Friday Five

The first day of summer vacation is down for the boys. The slept in, watched some tv, went for Burger King for lunch, and played outside. They're doing summer right!

Shawn got to go to a new Target today. His summer may have already been made. LOL

It's been warm, so we really do need to set up the pool this weekend. The boys can't wait!

Yesterday, Jack performed in his class play. He was the cutest little alligator around!

One more week of school for me and then I get to celebrate summer with everyone else. I can't wait!

School's Out For Summer!

Another year is in the books! We now have official 5th and 2nd graders in the HOUSE! Woohoo!

 I can't believe how much these three have grown this year!

Jack: (to Isaac) Why thank you old man.

Jason: (laughing) Did you hear that he called you...

Isaac: ...

Jason: ...um...he called you "wise"?

This Guy

This guy is my guy. I am his. He is his happiest when he is near me/next to me/on me. lol. This is not an unusual afternoon for us...

I love this guy!

AR Stars, that is! Congratulations to both Jason and Jack for earning trophies for their AR reading this year!

(Shawn made great strides in reading this year, but he didn't earn enough points for a trophy.)

We are so proud of all of our boys! You all worked so hard this year!

4 more days, and this is where you'll find this guy--chilling outside. He can't wait!

Friday Four

There are just 4 more school days before we have official 2nd and 5th graders in the house! They are so excited at the prospect of summer!

Monday is the AR awards ceremony. Both Jack and Jason will receive trophies that day! (Shawn is doing his part, too, he just didn't meet the trophy goal for his grade.)

The Teach the Teacher day was a success for the big boys! Shawn was so happy to get to show off something he loved, Pixar Cars, to his classmates. He was prepared and earned a 100%! Way to go, Shawn!

Jason was excited to share his topic, international flags. He did so well, he even got to share his report to a 5th grade class! He also earned a 100%!

Today was Old Fashioned Day at school. It was kind of like a field day experience, and the kids got to play games like relays, bean bag tosses, Frisbee, and jump rope. Then later they got to eat some watermelon. They had lots of fun!

They liked the watermelon enough to talk dad into buying one for the house this afternoon. Ha!

It's a Friday Four kind of night tonight. These last days of school are so exhausting for all of us!
