Pro

30 Day Challenge Bonus #11

It is now official. (Well, it has been for a few weeks now.) This boy is a thumb sucker!

He has no problem soothing himself back to sleep if/when he wakes. It sure does beat having to run into his room at 2:30 am to stick a pacifier back in his mouth like we had to do with some other boys we know.

Why do exercises when I can sleep, mommy?

As a special bonus, you get to see Jack hard at work on his tummy time.

Ahem.

Mostly Wordless Wednesday

A smile that just melts my heart...

And a scream that can drive me crazy.

Thankfully, I usually get way more smiles than screams. :-)

Every so often Shawn comes over to talk to Jack. He kisses him and then gives him a hug. It never fails that he has to kiss and hug me right after Jack. So sweet...

Decorating Cupcakes :-)

30 Day Challenge Bonus #9

Jason saw someone making cupcakes on television, so he decided he wanted to try it too. (Shawn on the other hand, did not want anything to do with making or decorating cupcakes. He wanted to watch Yo Gabba, Gabba!)

We made the cupcakes together first, but the best part was the decorating.

His choice of colors were white, pink, and yellow.

Starting with the yellow...

and now a little pink...

A little for the cupcake, a little more for me!

Now time for a few sprinkles...

An artist needs to taste his work, you know.

Now for the best part...the eating!

Mmmmmm....

He thoroughly enjoyed himself and got to eat another cupcake after dinner.

---

Wiping off Jason's face last night...

Daddy: your face is covered in frosting.

J: (licking his lips) I taste like cupcake.

He thought for a few seconds before his face lit up with a smile...

J: Lick me!

That was my cue to run after him for a little kiss!

Right Hook

30 Day Challenge Bonus #7
Jack's no fool. He knows he needs to start honing his skills now. He's got two older brothers, you know. :-) Here he is practicing his right hook. (And a little snippet of Shawn too.)

What do you think? Future boxer?

His new thing is to reach out and try to get my face. When he finally gets me, I'll grab his hand and rub it against my face. He'll just smile away and reach out with the other hand, too. He is such a little snuggler. Awww...

Cute Baby Saturday

30 Day Challenge Bonus #6

Jack in his new Bumbo seat...

Look at that straight back...the head control...oh, and his shirt! (Notice that he loves his mommy. Ahem.)

Jack likes it, but he does have a heavy noggin. When that thing starts pulling back, gravity takes over and all he can do is stare at the ceiling. Mommy has to help him straighten his head out every now and then. He isn't a fan of that part, although the rest of the time he's in the chair makes up for it. ;-) It won't be long, though, before he is sitting in that thing like he's done it for his whole life.

The funny thing is that Jason has taken a liking to the Bumbo seat, too. Only for him, it's a whole different experience!

You should see him trying to get OUT of it too! Lol. (FYI-the sock is off because he has "itchy footitis" and the sock apparently aggravates the condition. Sigh. And yes, that just means his foot itches.)

Kidbits: Our Life in a Series of Face Book Updates... Part 6

30 Day Challenge Bonus # 5

---

Here's an interesting twist: Jason had a night terror last night. He woke up screaming for Shawn to let go of his cup and straw (a scene we'd had earlier in the day). Isaac got up to check on him and found him on SHAWN in SHAWN's bed pinning him down! Jason was totally asleep. What's worse is that Shawn wasn't moving. I think Isaac died a thousand deaths while he tried to seen if Shawn was actually breathing. Jeez.

and then...

But as a bonus, the littlest person slept through the night again... :-)

June 23 @ 2:00pm

---

Someone's 12 weeks old today!
June 22 at 9:29pm

---

De Hair 'Em, Scare 'Em is open for business. Let the fun begin. Sigh.

June 22 @ 7:05 pm

---

People...I AM STILL IN BED! Ahhhh...it's 8:24 and not a single peep from the little people! AND Jack slept through the NIGHT!!l Without waking up for a "snack" even! (cue contented sigh)

June 21 at 8:25am

and then...

I must have jinxed myself. 15 minutes after I posted that, the whole lot of them were up and moving at a 100 miles an hour. The quiet was nice while it lasted!

June 21 at 11:37am

---

Just had to move the straps on his car seat to the top slot. Probably should have done that a few weeks ago. No wonder he hated his car seat. And he's only 11 weeks old!!!!

June 18 at 6:00pm

---

The little people slept until 8:45 this morning! The littlest slept (after a brief meal at 7:20 am) until 9:30! I! Am! A! Whole! New! Person! Today! I love sleep...

June 18 at 10:55am

---

Everyone is bathed, dressed, and fed twice this morning. Me thinks it's about time for me to follow in their examples. Just a half an hour until nap time...and a shower for me! Wooohoooo! It's the little things in life. ;-)

June 17 at 1:14pm

---

Part of our bedtime routine is singing a lullaby to the boys. Shawn always makes sure that Jason gets his lullaby too. It really is very sweet that he looks out for his brother. They may drive each other crazy, but they sure do love each other. :-)

June 13 at 10:57pm

---

Watching Cars for the 9.2 millionth time. I think I might be able to say the words backward at this point. Sigh.

June 12 at 12:09pm

---

Boys. Quiet time is supposed to be QUIET. Stop playing and sleep already!

June 8 at 3:21pm

---

By golly, he did it! Finally he peed (and then pooped) on the freaking potty! Had to pull out the big guns to motivate him, but who cares?

June 7 at 8:39pm

---

So today Jason is the pancake. Shawn is the fork. Jack is the butter. And me? I'm the syrup. Gotta love little people's imaginations...

June 1 at 4:29pm

---

(in reference to Shawn recovering from his strabismus surgery)

And he's back! Yay! Finally back to his normal self. Wait...

uh oh.

His normal self is 3! What was I thinking?!!?
May 30 at 2:43pm

---

(in reference to Shawn recovering from his strabismus surgery)

Shawn's still...fragile, but he is doing better today. He still complains that I am poking him in the eye (why it is me, IDK) and he may have a bit of double vision for a while. I am back to being a human pillow again today, though.

May 29 at 6:07pm
Isaacs take: Awww. I tell you, it scared the crap out of me! My mind went all Nat Geo when I saw Jason on Shawn's bed with the blanket covering Shawn's head. Yelling, "Give me back my juice cup! Get it out of your mouth! Its mine!" I ...could have sworn he was smothering Shawn. Like the dodo bird that gets rid of the competition in the nest. Then, after I put him back in his respective nest, Shawn wasn't moving! I actually woke him up just to see his eyes. He must have slept through the whole thing. I'm was too tired to process that stuff rationally

and finally...

More Conversations with Three Year Olds

30 Day Challenge Bonus #4

Me: (humming a Yo Gabba Gabba song) Ugh. I have that song stuck in my head.

J: Huh?

Me: I have a song stuck in my head.

J: What does that mean?

Me: It means I keep thinking about a song over and over.

J: Boy...that must really hurt.

Yes, my boy, sometimes it does hurt--especially when it is a Yo Gabba Gabba song! :-)

---

S: Momma!

Me: Yes, Shawn?

S: Momma...I forgot.

Me: What did you forget?

S: I don't know cuz I forgot.

Well that sure does explain a lot, now doesn't it.

Jack - 12 Weeks Old

It's going too fast...it's going too fast! Someone slow down the clock! How can he be 3 months old already??!!

Weight:  16 pounds, 8 ounces (by my scale), but I think he is smack dab in the middle of yet another growth spurt as I type this.

Length:  25 3/4 inches

Wearing: size 2 Huggies diapers and 6 month clothes (now filled out in width as well as length. I've already ordered 6-9 month sleepers. My guess is he'll be in them withing a week or two max.)

Feedings: Jack went through this weird spell of only eating 2 ounces and then acting like I was trying to put poison in his mouth. This led to him eating every two hours again. I almost went crazy. And then...without any rhyme or reason he started eating 5-6 ounces of formula a feeding (every 3-4 hours) for a total of approximately 28-33 ounces a day.

Favorites: Jack still loves his black and white photos that are hung around the living room. His thumb has now entered the picture as a new love. It is way too cute to see him search and find it. He loves napping on his tummy (instead of working on tummy time). Jack has also discovered he has two bigger boys to smile at.

Least Favorites: Jack is still pretty "eh" about tummy time. See the above "sleeping on his tummy" comment.

Issues: Jack still has an issue with gas and being uncomfortable various times throughout the day. Mylecon seems to be enough to help get him through the rough moments.

Personality: Jack is fairly easy going and smiley. He's also pretty social and loves "talking" to mommy and daddy, although he does seem to prefer his mommy right now. :-)

Areas to work on: Jack is getting close to rolling over from his tummy to his back. If he can just figure out what to do with his arm, he's going to master that skill.

New Things: Jack has slept THROUGH THE NIGHT! Woooo to the double whoooo! (Please don't let me jink us by writing that.)

Randomness: Jack will get another shot, his pertussis booster, next week.

---

Some things Jack does: (milestones for three month olds)

Mastered Skills (most kids can do)

• Recognizes your face and scent (Yep)
• Holds head steady (Yep)
• Visually tracks moving objects (Yep)

Emerging Skills (half of kids can do)

• Squeals, gurgles, coos (No squeals, but lots of gurgles and coos)
• Blows bubbles (Yep)
• Recognizes your voice (Yep-I can even wake him from a deep sleep by saying his name.)
• Does mini-pushup (Yep)

Advanced Skills (a few kids can do)

• Rolls over, from tummy to back (So close!)
• Turns toward loud sounds (Yep about half the time. It is definitely getting more frequent each day, but let's face it. If he turned his head toward every loud sound around this place he'd never get a chance to look forward!)
• Can bring hands together, bats at toys (Brings his hands together and will bat at toys, bottle, etc. It is definitely an unrefined bat, but it gets the job done.)

Jack's two month stats are here.

This Morning...

S: What are you doing, Jason?

J: NO!

S: Are you happy?

J: NO!

S: Are you sad?

J: NO! (shoves Shawn away from him)

Mom: Jason. Stop that. Shawn, Jason is grumpy. You need to leave him alone.

S: Are you grumpy, Jason?

S: You ARE grumpy!

J: NO! (more shoving and yelling)

S: (with a wicked little laugh...) Oh, Jason...I'ma getchooo...

Off they went with Shawn chasing Jason while Jason continued to yell, "NO!"

Sigh.

Kaleidoscope

30 Day Challenge Bonus #1 (We shall see how long this lasts... I am succumbing to peer pressure.)
Hmmm...what have we here? A Kaleidoscope!

I think I need to take my glasses off to really appreciate this thing.

What's that?

It's a car! Wow! Look at all the cars!

Wait a minute...

Look at all the Grave Diggers! (That is what his monster truck is called.) Cool!

Hey, mommy...

I see you! Lots of yous!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day, Daddy! We love you! (I am a lucky girl.)

Jason and Jackson - I think Tank is already half Jason's size!

Daddy and his youngest boy!

Daddy and his youngest and oldest boys!

Daddy and all three of his little boys! The money shot!

Mwah! We love you daddy!

...and a cute one of Shawn for good measure. :-)

I thought pictures of two toddlers looking at the camera and smiling at the same time was tough. Jeez. Three is even tougher. Good thing Jack was such a trooper. He sat there the entire time without a single complaint. His big brothers were not as happy, but they soldiered on just for daddy. Now that's love! :-)

---

30 Day Challenge #30 - Boo Yeah! I did it!!! I plan to keep posting as often as I can, but I no longer guarantee every day. That just about did me in.

Bad to the bone...

Jack's sporting a new do--a mohawk! I think he likes it too. He may even get to wear it around town. Lol.

Flashback Friday - It's Still Good.

30 Day Challenge #28

Yes, after all this time, it's still good.

Then...

July 2009

Look at how tiny they are!

And now...

Look! One, two, three of 'em!

They dance wonderfully...sigh.

Oh yeah. I almost forgot that part!

Look at that concentration. ;-)

He still loves him some Beyonce!

Overheard

"Mommy. Jason needs to go sit on the naughty chair." - Shawn when he thinks Jason is getting away with something he shouldn't.

---

Mommy: "Jason look! A police car!"

Jason: Gasps while looking in the direction I pointed. "Cool!"

Jason about 20 seconds later: "But I missed it."

Said on the way to Target this weekend.

---

"Daddy! I had a BIG dream...of a thunderstorm and a garbage truck." - Jason this morning right after he woke up.

---

Jason: "Go to sleep, Shawnie."
Shawn: "No!"
Jason: "Go to SLEEP."
Shawn: "No. I don't want TOOOOO!"

Scene played out just about every morning because Shawn is up for the day but Jason still wants to sleep.

---

Shawn: "Can I stick my hand in the water?"
Mommy: "No! Shawn, quit playing with the cat's water dish!"

---

"Can I watch Light-ning Ma-the-clean?" - said by Shawn approximately 473 times a day, every day, 7 days a week.

---

Lots of laughter..."I made stinky ducks!" followed by lots more laughter. - said by both boys to tell me they just passed gas--because we must announce these things for all to enjoy, you know.

Sigh.

---

"I wanna 'nuggle." - said by Shawn every night before bed. :-)

---

"Can we go to Target and get some cars?" - said by Jason. I created a monster!

---

"Ahhhhh-ohhhhh" - said by Jack after he eats.

Not To Be Outdone

30 Day Challenge #25

The focus of our little potty training adventure has been Jason. It's not that I don't want Shawn to potty train, too, but I decided that divide and conquer would be the easier solution for outnumbered me. Plus, I know that my boy, Shawn, is a stubborn one. I figured he'd be a tougher nut to crack than his brother. Ahem.

But.

But!

Shawn is starting to frequently ask to get on the potty. Not for a prize. Not for anything other than the thought that if Jason is doing it, then he should too. He hasn't actually peed on the potty yet, but it's coming. I know it is.

It won't surprise me if Shawn doesn't end up potty training before Jason does! My boys sure do like to keep me on my toes. :-)

Potty Tranining Part Deux

30 Day Challenge #23

So.

The little man is smart, see. He figured out my game. He used the potty like a CHAMP until he had "earned" all of the cars that he liked. And then...nothing. He could not/would not be persuaded to get back on that potty if his life depended on it.

Undies were out of vogue. You'd think that pull ups had turned into some sort of toxic waste if you heard him bellow.

I worried I was going to do more harm than good, (plus I went back to work), so I dropped it.

Mommy - 0
Jason - 1

Touché, little man. Touché.

If there's one thing I know, though, it's that I am smarter than a 3 year old. I am going to beat him at his own game. Think he can play me, does he? Oh yeah?

Off to Target we went. I let the boy pick his favorite (cheap) cars. I let him hold them while we were in the store. I let him carry them in his lap on the way home. I let him bring them into the house. Then I took them away. Ahem.

Crying ensued. I told him he could have them back, one at a time, when he used the potty.

His reply? "But I need more pee pee to get my cars. I don't have enough!"

That boy has been on the potty left and right since we got home.

Lol.

Mommy - 1
Jason - 1

Stay tuned...

Bathing Beauties

30 Day Challenge #22

Shawn and Jason rub a dub, dub in the tubbing...

P.S. Jay was not cooperating on this day. Sigh.

Hey, this is fun!

Daddy, wash Jason's hair.

No! Wash Shawnie's hair!

Let's wash the hair on both of you! Mohawk time...

Argh...

The big boys love taking baths. They like to "swim" and play with their letters and car foam shapes, too.

---

These are from the first time Jack took a bath. He loves bath time too. He'll coo and kick and smile, and well...just be all sweet and cute.

Can't get over that belly of his, either! ;-)

I remember the big boys' first bath. My hand covered most of their bodies! That is not how it is for Tank here.

He's definitely my big boy!
