Conversations With 8 Year Olds

While tucking the boys into bed...

Him: Its already the second week of vacation.

Dad: Yep, it is.

Him: Probably means it's time to start doing something fun now.

Dad: Really? Like what?

Him: Mayve we could go on a trip...like to the UK?

Lol!

Going Buggy

We discovered that our milkweed has a serious case of aphids. Sigh. So, we decided to go the natural route to get rid of them and got some ladybugs!

Jason was THRILLED! He's been looking for some customers for the bug hotel he created some time back, and these unsuspecting ladybugs were perfect for his resort. ;)

Shawn was not as enthused, but he thought they were okay.

Jack, however, is NOT a fan.

He tried to be interested,

but that didn't last long, especially when on of the ladybugs had the nerve to actually land on him. (That did not go over well.)

To be fair, Jack has had a fever off and on the last few days and isn't feeling his best, but still. He had a scowl on his face the entire time he was outside. Lol.

Fingers crossed our ladybugs do the trick and rid us of our aphids. :)

Meanwhile...

While the big boys were selecting their end of the school year treats, we jump over to our Mr. Jack...

Galloping down the aisle like he owned the place.

Lol! He thought the horsey was pretty cool. ;)

Cute Big Boy Saturday

The boys finally got the chance to go to Toys R Us to celebrate the end of the school year! I think they are pleased with their selections, too.

A shark for Shawn!

Some Legos and cars for Jay!

Jack even got to get a surprise, too. :)

Friday Five

This afternoon, Jack started to pack his backpack. When we asked him what he was doing, he told us he was "going on a trip to Wyoming," of all places. He talked on and on about his "big trip" and all the adventures he had in store for him.

He apparently even saw wildlife while he was on the road. Here he is screaming because a big snake scared him.

After about a half an hour or so, he started muttering about needing to be on a train. He found out the hard way that hiking through the country is probably not the best way to go. lol. It wasn't much after that when he had to take a bathroom break and decided the trip was over.

Later, he took his backpack with him on his visit to my mom's. He told her he was headed to Miami. ;) The kid is a world traveler now!

~~~
Jason was very proud of his ninja disguise!
He perfected his stance and everything!
~~~

This is one of my new favorite pictures of Shawn and his dad...

~~~
Jason, in particular, really likes the idea of our Summer Bucket list. He sees things on TV or reads about something and adds it to our list. I am loving it! So far he's added bowling and camping to the list. :)
~~~

Speaking of our bucket list, we are finally making some headway on redoing our backyard. We finally removed one tree, pruned another, and got rid of a bunch of wood that had been back there for far too long. I am so excited! Next up, deciding what we'll do with another tree and hopefully repaving. Woohoo!

Written All Over His Face

He likes to make them, but as you can tell from his face, he isn't a fan of eating them.

Crazy kid.

Wordy Wednesday - Finally!

It happened!

His tooth finally released its hold in his mouth.

He was quite proud when it finally came out, too. Although I pulled it out, he gave me a big high five in celebration.

I love looking at this cute little face. It's amazing how one missing tooth can change it so much!

With one final tug, he morphed into this big, handsome boy.

I'm not sure I'm ready for that. Tonight he made his Tooth Fairy box and placed it by his bed.

This is the first time for him. He just wasn't interested in leaving his other teeth out for her before. The Tooth Fairy will make her entrance and leave him some coins for not one, but three teeth. He's pretty jazzed about it. (It helps when you have older brothers to talk it up.)

This is all a tiny bit bittersweet. He's growing up; no longer is he my little baby.

I'm not sure I'm ready for that.

Happy Father's Day!

Today we got a chance to celebrate Father's Day, after postponing it because of the plague that his this last weekend. It was still a low key day, but the boys enjoyed giving their dad gifts. We even had cupcakes for dinner!

Isaac with each of his boys!

 A comparison...2011, Isaac's first Father's Day with his three boys,
and today, his 5th Father's Day with three boys.
They've grown so much!

My four guys!

Happy Father's Day, Isaac. We are lucky your ours. <3 nbsp="" p="">

And We Keep Trying

To no avail. Lol

The kid is determined.

If At First You Don't Succeed...

Today is Father's Day, but the plague has overtaken our house. We decided we are going to postpone celebrations until the little people are feeling better. Fingers crossed that will be sooner rather than later.

The expression of "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." is playing out in our house. Today, Jack came to me. He was holding a pair of tweezers he found in his mouth and told me to help him. I watched in horror as he yanked. The boy was trying to pull his tooth!

The whole scene gave me a heart attack. Sheesh.

Anyway, it is clear that his top tooth is bugging him. It is very loose, but it just won't give way to pulling. I know because I've tried. Isaac's tried. Jack has tried.

I even broke down and got some string to try to pull it. For some reason, I couldn't get it to secure to the tooth well enough to keep it on it. Sigh.

So, Jack still has his top tooth, now sitting slightly askew. I imagine it won't be long, because Jack is highly motivated, but I feel like we keep saying it won't be long before it comes out for a while now. lol.

I do know that the boy is going to "try, try again," until he completes his mission. He's stubborn, that one. ;)

Cute Big Boy Saturday - School Play

Yesterday, the boys had their school play, "The Garden Show." It was too cute, and we are so proud of both of our guys!

The kids sang and danced in this play which was about "aliens from planet Chlorophyll who land in a garden. They meet some new friends who teach them all about (the garden). The aliens learn about soil, photosynthesis, pollination, and the creatures who call the garden home."

Tabloid reporter, Jason, and his friend the compost, Jacob.

The bees and the aliens singing. Shawn was a bee, a cute one at that!

Shawn was singing at this point, but he looks less than thrilled. lol

The whole class singing and dancing.

This was Jason's big scene. He's singing a song about giving money to anyone who'd supply him with a story about an alien.

He did so well!

And was so jazzed to be performing. You'd never know he was a tiny bit nervous.

A song about seasons.

The closing number.

Shawn performing in the closing number.

Jack was enchanted with the ENTIRE experience. He would have been out there performing if he could have. lol

Shawn was quite pleased with himself afterward. :)

Our two stars!

Both were quite pleased with themselves.

Jay and his friend.

Shawn and one of his friends.
Here's Jason singing his song. :)

Straight Outta Second Grade!

I can hardly believe we've just finished another year of school! Woo hoo!

Our sweet boys have grown so much this year!

So, bring on the summer vacation!

In just a few short weeks, there will be 2, third graders AND a kindergartner in the house! Woo hoo!

So Awesome!

Shawn came home with this gem today:

"Dear Mom and Dad,
Did you know that I am one of the worlds smartest students? I am going to get a medal from (my teacher) that I can keep forever if I believe in myself. I am really smart. I want to go to college.
from
Shawn"

How awesome is this?!

Boy Solutions

I got this text from Isaac yesterday:

"Jack and Jason were playing with Legos.  Jack wanted some of Jason's Legos for no other reason than Jason had them.

Jason said "No." What happened next just made me laugh.

That little boy backed up (his rear end) right next to Jason and started a rapid fire, complete and total, fart-Orama!'

Now that is how a boy solves his problem. Lol

Because Of Course

Nothing goes better with a strawberry ring pop than a snow pea, right?

Depends on who you ask. :)
