Spelling Bee!

Today, Jason participated in the school spelling bee! He did an AWESOME job, too!

Lucky number 13!

Spelling his first word "foot"

 Jason is still in the running and made it passed the first 4 rounds. He spelled the words "foot," "blanket," "purse," and "Icelandic."

They ran out of time today, so Jason will go back tomorrow and give it his best.

We are SO PROUD of him!

Cute Big Boy Saturday

Today is National Chocolate Cake Day! That of course meant there was only one thing for us to do...CELEBRATE!

And then there is Jack, who for some insane reason, doesn't do cake. (I have no idea how this can be. My kid doesn't like chocolate. Or cake.) He instead celebrated with cherry flavored gummies. To each his own, I guess!

Happy National Chocolate Cake Day!

Friday Four

This week has been more stressful than expected for a whole host of reasons. We are all relieved to have finally reached the weekend!

The boys have decided that they'd like to have a sleep out this weekend. In essence, they all seem to think that I make a very good pillow and would like to put that theory to test. So...we shall see how (if?)  that goes. lol

~~~
I can't believe it has officially been 10 years since we've had a baby in the house! It feels both like just yesterday and a million years ago.
I asked the boys this week if they were ready to leave the Homecoming Day celebrations behind us. They were both in agreement that there is no way we should stop. Jason even suggested that they should at least go on until they move out. Maybe longer. LOL. We'll celebrate as long as they want to. :)
~~~

But, speaking about celebrating, I think the big boys may have officially outgrown giving Valentines for Valentine's Day. I asked, and there was a definite lack of interest in this. Wonder if that will hold out as the day approaches.

~~~
Isaac got the boys whoopee cushions this week. It has been so much fun. For them. LOL Oh, the laughter a whoopee noise can bring.
Happy Homecoming Day, Shawn!
On this day, 10 years ago, our Shawn finally came home after 90 days in the hospital!
It's a day that is very important to us, and we will continue to celebrate for as long as the boys will let us!
Shawn woke up to some decorations on his door.
He got to pick what we had for dinner (pizza).
Then we sang "Happy Homecoming Day to You!" and watched as he blew out his candle.
He was so excited to get some new "truck haulers" to add to his collection. :)
 Happy Homecoming Day, Shawn! Hope you had a fantastic day!
This guy is finally feeling like himself again. Just in time, too. Tomorrow is his Homecoming Day!
A First
We had a first today. Today, someone embellished how badly he was feeling in school (to be fair, an adult who should have known better gave him the suggestion) so he could come home, where he promptly felt LOADS better and never had another issue for the rest of the afternoon into the evening. His miraculous recovery is quite the deal, too, because upon pick up the poor thing was crying and moaning about how bad he felt (again at the suggestion of a different adult). Sigh.
Anywho, we've figured out your game, mister, and this kind of con-job isn't going to happen again! LOL
(Seriously. Why does an adult tell a kid, after the kid is clearly not interested in what the adult is trying to teach, "You don't look like you feel good"? The kid was bored! The adult might as well hand the kid a get out of jail free card, because let's face it. What kind of kid is not going to jump at that? And for the second person to chime in when they should have been quiet...it just makes me shake my head. Amateurs.)
Art
He's drawing himself on the stage. Notice the audience watching him! LOL!
Had to laugh when he added "Shawn and Jack" twins!
Can't Live Without
I have an app that sends me a question a day. Today's question was for Jason, but I asked all three of the boys: "What is one thing you couldn't live without?"
Jason's answer:
Family. If you guys were gone, I wouldn't know how to live.
So I asked him, "Okay, outside of your family, what is something you couldn't live without?"
His answer:
Electronics. Any device because they are amazing. They are entertaining because I can play games and watch YouTube videos. My favorite game right now is every game!
Shawn's answer:
You. I couldn't live without you because I love you! And also just my whole family.
Jack's answer:
I couldn't live without my ticket! (to Disneyland) I also couldn't live without my friends.
Friday Five
We ended the week on the upswing. Shawn made it through both Thursday and Friday. Jason had a good week. Jack had a performance at school.
To celebrate, we all got to go to Target! Fun!
~~~

It is so nice that Shawn is finally starting to feel better. He's laughing so much more, which is pretty huge. We've missed that laugh.

~~~
Speaking of performances, Jack got to sing on the stage at school! He looked so cute!
Jack's a flower in the garden!
~~~

I do think that Jack enjoys being on the stage and sing more than the average kid. He loves to sing in his microphone and LOVES to have an audience! Maybe we've got a future performer on our hands here?

~~~
The boys have been really interested in Captain Underpants since they saw the movie. I got them some Captain Underpants books, which Jason promptly read. (He now has nearly 90 AR points now!) Even Jack has been reading them! Fun.
Success!
Shawn made it through a day of school today! Isaac did go down to give him some Advil about mid-way through, but he did it, and he did it successfully!
This round of sick really kicked poor Shawn's rear end. So glad he seems to finally be on the mend!
Conversation
Actual conversation at my house this morning...
Him: Do we have school today?
Me: No, it is a holiday. It is Martin Luther king Jr. day.
Him: Martin Luther king Jr.?
Me: Yes, you know him. He is the man who gave the I have a dream speech. Remember?
Him: Oh! Like Rapunzel from "Tangled"? She has a dream, too.
It's hard to argue with logic like that first thing in the morning. lol
Friday Four
Well, Shawn didn't make it to school this week. Every time we thought he was making the turn to feeling better, he'd fizzle out and be miserable again. Tonight was the first time he's actually played in quite some time. Fingers crossed that this means he's turned the corner toward recovery.
~~~

But, wouldn't you know it that the other two tested positive for strep today, too. Oh the joy. Hopefully, we caught it early.

~~~
Have to laugh at Jack's new favorite past time on his iPad. He now likes to watch videos about Disneyland. I've heard him watching videos about the Pirates of the Caribbean, the Small World, and even the Tiki Room. When he plays, Disneyland is where he takes his toys.
I hope our last trip didn't create a monster!
~~~

Jack's class is going to have hold it's winter performance next week. It was originally scheduled the for that last week of school before break, but school was canceled. I'm so glad that Jack's teacher decided to give the kids the chance to perform anyway. Jack was looking forward to it!

~~~
That's all for today. It has been a long week!
Strep
So it seems our sickie, Shawnie, has strep. 10 days of amoxicillin for him along with at least one more day off of school. (And let's all cross our fingers that we don't find out Shawn is allergic like Jay.)
It's funny. He has been complaining of a headache and said he felt dizzy. I was leaning toward a sinus infection. He only offhandedly mentioned his throat hurt a couple of times, and even then he said he wanted something to drink to "cool down his throat." When he finally let me see in his mouth, and his poor throat looked horrible. Sigh. He is one tough cookie it seems. I sure hope this helps him feel better. We are all sorely in need of sleep.
Snowman
Despite what I thought he'd say was his favorite part of Disney, Shawn surprised me and said something else was his favorite part. He said his favorite part was taking pictures with Snowman Mater. And then I uploaded the pictures from that time. Now I think I know why he treasured that moment so!
Makes my heart melt!
