Shawn's Date!

Shawn had his "get to know you" doctor's appointment today. Like we did for Jay's appointment yesterday, we decided to make today Shawn's date day!

Shawn did fine at the appointment (47" tall and 47 pounds!). Because I had given the pediatrician all of Shawn's information yesterday, his appointment was very quick and we had a bit of time before lunch.

What does any normal person do when they have an hour of free time? Why go to Target of course!

Shawn LOVED having both of us there just for him. It was super sweet. Interestingly, he never once asked about his brothers. lol.

He got to pick out a toy, too! He was in pure heaven!

Then, we headed out for a little lunch at a restaurant.

We also got the chance to go see the boys' teacher and classroom. We went and got Jason from grandma's and took him with us. We looked around, saw some old friends, and met their teacher. (We're all set for tomorrow!)

We took Jay back to grandma's and dropped daddy off. Shawn and I then went off to my work, where Shawn got to help me work on setting up my classroom.

I put him to work cleaning up some trash...

but it wasn't long before he found my desk and computer.

He looks so grown up!

It was another fantastic day, and we had loads of fun!

We're on a Date, Mommy!

Jason had a get to know you doctor's appointment today. I decided that instead of just going there and being done for the day, we'd make it a fun afternoon of one on one time for us.

"We're going to go on a date, mommy!" How totally sweet is that?

Jay was a rock star at the appointment (50.25" tall and 53 pounds!). Afterward, we headed out for a little lunch at a restaurant.

He ordered his own food, perfected the art of keeping your napkin on your lap, and learned some of the nuances of baseball while we watched the Little League World Series. He thoroughly enjoyed himself!

Then we headed to the big adventure of the afternoon...the library! He was in awe of all the books. (It was pretty awesome to see him so excited, too!)

He knew just what kind of books he wanted to find. He found one of the librarians and asked her to help him find books on Nascar racing.

As she led him to the shelves, she asked him whether he wanted to read stories or facts. The boy answered without even pausing -- he wanted facts, thank you very much!

He hit the mother load of books, clearly finding his version of heaven! He spent quite a long while selecting just the right ones to read. He found a table and got busy losing himself in the world of racing.

By the time we left, Jay had found himself several biographies of his favorite racers (Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, and Matt Kenseth) and had an armful of other books on Nascar wrecks, what happens in the pit, and the history of racing.

He even got himself his first library card!

He can't wait to go back again. It was a fantastic day and we had a lot of fun. :)

Next up - tomorrow is Shawn's turn for a date!

Summer Bucket List - Visit the Children's Museum

This weekend we took the boys to the local children's museum. They had a blast playing and exploring!

For the entire time we were there, Jack was in overdrive. He ran from display to display while yelling, "THIS is A-MAZ-ing! This is AWE-some!" It was pretty funny. While the big boys were a lot more subdued in their enthusiasm, they still had a great time, too. :)

Jack got right to work playing the piano and singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."

Jack piloted a space craft.

He just looks so cute in that helmet!

Shawn played with and organized some blocks.

Prepping for his fire fighter shift.

Jason was fascinated by this model of the human body.

Shawn played in the submarine.

All three boys cooked us up some food.

Shawn was the chef.
Jay was the shopper.
Jack was the taste tester...
none of them had the roles I'd expect them to have. lol

Shawn's giving daddy some soup.

Daddy's turn at the diner.

I love that they are all playing the same thing at the same time.
That like NEVER happens!

Shawn put together some legos.

Jason and daddy had their turn in the space craft.

Jason pushing all of the important buttons...

and watching as he moves further into space.

Shawn went looking for fossils and found one!

Shawn's take orders from the paleontologist.

Mostly, though, he like throwing the dirt at the paleontologist. ;)

Jay joined in the hunt.

Jack took the clip board and recorded their findings.

Even mom joined in the work.
Jay investigated some rocks.

Jack did a little mining.

Jack took a ship for a little spin around the marina, too.

All in all, it was a fun trip!

Summer Bucket List 2014 - The Beach

Well, we did it! Finally, after nearly seven years, we took the boys to the beach. The adventure was a fabulous hit with the boys, too!

As soon as we got there, Jack took off straight for the water.

He then proceeded to lie down in said water and attempt to drown himself. Sigh. I helped him up and let him play for a bit before we headed back up the beach to where Isaac and his brothers were playing.

He was not happy about that in the least.

Thankfully he mellowed out and played in the sand with his brothers for a while.

We headed down to the water after a bit. I was a bit worried about how the big boys would react to the water. (I already knew Jack thought it was awesome.)

They LOVED it!

Shawn took to the water like a fish. It was hard to keep him safe, he was so fearless!

Jason took a little while to warm up to playing in the water, but when he did, he loved it, too.

It was a beautiful day. The boys had a fantastic time. There's not much more could we have asked for! Yea!

Now that we've figured out some of the logistics, this is definitely something we're going to do again!
