Summer Bucket List - Disneyland Part 3

These are the last of the Disney pictures. I broke down and ordered the disk they offered because they suckered me in with the words "half off" or else I wouldn't have got them. It's good, though, because these are the only pictures we have of the four of us together during that trip.

Our first attempt at a family picture didn't exactly work out the way I'd hoped. We walked past a photographer with no line. She said we was working with "Duffy,"* but he was on break. Perfect, I thought. We didn't want our pictures with Duffy anyway. We were all set for her to take her first shot when Duffy reappeared. Shawn would have NONE of Duffy, so Jason and daddy had a solo photo shoot.

Below is a better version of the photo I already posted of the four of us. The photographer was Bethany, and she managed to get us all to look at the camera and somewhat smile. Yea!

Next is the first attempt to get us to all smile at another point in Radiator Springs. We only batted 3 out of 4 in this one.

Attempt number two still left us with only 3 out of 4 smilers. Lol. It's a bit comical how you can take so many pictures and only end up with a few with everyone looking at the camera at the same time!

We had to have our picture taken with Mater...

Another shot of us in front of the leaning tower of tires.

Disney added some stock photos, so I thought I'd share them, also. Too bad I'm no where near good enough to take pictures like these, myself!

I did take a picture very similar to this!
Mine just had three million people in it. ;-)

So there you have it, our Disney experience. The boys continue to ask daily to go back, so I guess that means they really liked it, too. :-)

*I have no idea why Disneyland, with the availability of so many wonderful characters, chose to create the Duffy character...

Summer Bucket List - Disney Trip Day 1

On the last weekend of July, we took the big boys to Disneyland! The boys really weren't given many details. They knew we were going to see where Mickey Mouse and Cinderella's castle (or Gorilla's Castle if you're Shawn--it only took us half a day to break him from calling it that!) were, but that's pretty much it. It didn't matter, though, because they were game for an adventure.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho...

It's off to Disneyland we go!

Part of the fun was a two night stay in a hotel, too!
Jay and I checking out the view from our balcony.
"Look mommy! A volcano!"
(The rest of us call it the Matterhorn.)

Shawn wanted to have his look around, too.
After checking into the hotel, we headed over to the Magic Kingdom for a few hours.
Standing in line to get in.
Don't they look thrilled?!?

Once inside the gate, we attempted our first ride. We got on the train so we could tour around the park.

Shawn waiting to get moving.

Jason couldn't wait for it to start.

Our first ride had a 50% approval rate. Jason loved it. He especially enjoyed the dinosaurs. Shawn was not a fan. For him, that train was NOT exactly the happiest place on earth, that's for sure. Ahem.

No problem. There was plenty of other things to do anyway, like watching our first parade!

Mickey and Minnie drummed their way past us.

Jason and I had a great seat for all the action.

Shawn and Isaac also had an awesome front row view.
(This is when being tall works to our advantage!)

After the parade, we visited with the ducks.

For the boys, the ducks were just as exciting as the parade. ;)

Plus, it made for a nice little break.

Then we moved on to It's a Small World and watched the clock.

It's true that time flies when you're having fun.

We went to Toon Town and played in the cars.

Jason practiced his driving skills in this red fire engine.
Better hold on, daddy! Jay doesn't have his license yet!

Shawn preferred cruising with his mama.
He likes it low and slow.

Jason's turn to take mommy out for a spin.

We saw several characters, and tried to meet Goofy, but the bathroom called and Goofy had to catch the fireworks show when we came out.

When we walked past the firestation, Jason and daddy went to go check it out.
"I want to be a fireman when I grow up!"

Hey wait a minute, how does this thing move anyway?
There's no engine in this fire engine!

After a fun filled first day, we headed back to the hotel to watch the fireworks.
We oohed and ahhed...

We could hear the music perfectly.

We got to see the whole thing from the comfort
of our very own balcony!
How cool is that?

The night ended with the boys snuggled in bed while watching movies.
They're watching "Cars" without knowing
we were only hours away from seeing the characters
in person at the new Cars Land attraction!
