Happy Halloween!

We had a fun day today! We carved pumpkins, stuck our hands in some mystery boxes filled with scary goodness, and even got a basket of goodies! Yay!

The boys got to try out 5 mystery boxes and got to stick their hands in a bowl of eyeballs!, bugs in dirt!, zombie snot!, witch's ears!, and worms! LOL. Too funny!

Then they got to trick-or-treat for their "Boo Basket"

Their baskets were filled with goodies and candy - they said it totally made up for not going out to the neighbors' houses. Yay!

Today was definitely different from our other Halloween celebrations, but we still had lots of fun!

Friday Five

We took family pictures today! (It was all very safe. We were outside and away from people. The photographer wore a mask.) I am always so anxious about the process of it. The photographer is A-MAZ-ING and so patient with our crew, but we are quite the scene when we do pictures. Three boys who each wants to do his own thing, of which smiling isn't exactly one of them, makes it extra special. LOL. To top it off, I did something to the back of my knee while we were there. Sigh. I have to say, though, everyone tried their very best, and I am very appreciative of that! Can't wait to see what she captured. Fingers crossed for some great ones. :)

We have a fun day planned for Halloween tomorrow. Because we're not going out to do the traditional trick-or-treating, we're going to carve pumpkins, play a few games, and get a surprise. Hopefully, they'll enjoy the day!

~~~
This year, because we are not going out to trick or treat, the boys are recycling costumes. Jack is going to be a Minecraft Creeper. Jason is going to do a twist on his scientist costume from last year. Shawn is going to be a skeleton again.
~~~

Somehow, we managed to get through a fourth of the school year! The first quarter is just about over. We are still perfecting our rhythm, but for the most part, we have a decent system of attacking schooling for everyone. We do have a few low points here and there when the stress/pressure overwhelms us, but we're learning to work through our frustrations and push on. These are such valuable life lessons that will help the boys in their entire lives.

~~~
We have had yet another caterpillar explosion in the backyard. The wasps have gone for the most part, so that has helped a lot. Just glancing at our milkweed plants this afternoon, and I could easily see 15-20 caterpillars. That likely means we have at least that hidden in the plants. We even have three chrysalises! It is always so fun when we get to watch our caterpillars.
Our Dynamic Duo is THIRTEEN!
In THIRTEEN short years, our tiny miracles have gone from this...
To this!
I am just so proud of these amazing guys. My heart is full. ðŸ’–
Today we had a fun day. We started off with school and then a fun trip to get pumpkins. Then we had cake and ice cream and opened their gifts.
Birthday Eve
Tonight, I said goodnight to our boys and kissed away the year of 12.
Much of this year has been a year like no other, yet these two have gone with the flow and have enjoyed life in pure dynamic duo style.
When school was canceled and they could no longer see their friends, they pushed through.
When weekly trips to Target could no longer happen because of quarantine, they pushed through.
When summer plans were never made, they pushed through.
With laughter.
With mischief and silliness.
With determination.
They picked themselves up when they got knocked down, and they kept moving forward.
We're so proud of how they've handled what the universe has thrown their way.
We're so proud of the young men they are becoming.
Tomorrow, our little two pound miracles will be 13.
13!
Seems crazy to think they can possible be 13.
Goodnight, my amazing boys. May the year of 13 bring you joy and love and so much more!
