Friday Five

The boys got out of school yesterday, and I got out of school today. School is officially out for summer! Wooooo to the double Whooooo!!!

Tonight I started putting away "school" so we can get a visual break from our year's online existence. It brings me so much joy to have it more back to the old normal in the house.

~~~
Report cards came today for the big boys. They did awesome. Between the two of them they got 10 A+s, 1 A, and 1 B-. Fantastic work! We are so proud!
~~~

We are going to venture out to Target this afternoon for the boys' annual end of school toy trip. They haven't been to Target since March of 2020, but the big boys are now 2 weeks post dose 2 of their vaccine! Jack is still not vaccinated yet because he is too young, but we will all stay masked, and we have really low infection rates in our area. Fingers crossed for a fun trip!

~~~
Last night we went to the Dinosaur Empire drive thru exhibit. Jack saw it advertised online and asked to go, so we surprised the boys with it. I'm not sure it was as exciting as the advertisements implied, but the boys thought it was interesting. Jack was pleased, too. :)
~~~

Shawn's been telling everyone he talked to at school that he was going on a vacation. I think we're going to have to try to make that happen. I'm thinking we'll find another glamping type of experience sometime soon.

Last Day of School!

These guys made it through one of the toughest school years ever. Made it through and excelled! We are so proud of how they all tackled online school!

They've grown SOOOO much this year!

So LONG!

It amazes me how fast this kid is getting. He is just so long, all of a sudden. It won't be too much longer before he's taller than me.

I was sitting on the couch, so I was sort of looking up at him.
He's all torso!

Where he is compared to me.

Friday Five

Oh, we are getting so close to the end of school! The boys all turned in the last of their assignments today. Last day of school is Thursday for them! YAY!

~~~
Well, it seems that our water heater has finally given out. We put it in right after we moved in here, so it has had a nice long life I guess. It just wasn't exactly what I had on the agenda for the weekend.
~~~

We also ordered Jason a new walker, which is exciting. He has outgrown his other walker, but we didn't really need to do anything about it before now because we never left the house. It's going to have all terrain wheels, so I'm going to be expecting this kid starts off roading now. lol

~~~
Shawn had to pick a state to research for a class project. He chose Arizona. Now he knows lots of random facts about Arizona. Want to know what the state flower of Arizona is? Shawn is your man.
~~~

Jason got released from his class VERY early today. Apparently the teacher had given the class an escape room type puzzle to finish. He cracked the code and finished it in minutes. Surprised his teacher, so she let him go while everyone else finished. LOL The kid is pretty dang smart, so I am not surprised.

Diorama Book Project

Jack's class just finished reading By the Great Horn Spoon! by Sid Fleischman. His teacher assigned the students to create a diorama about their favorite scene in the book. Jack chose to do his diorama about the scene when "Bullwhip" Praiseworthy fought Mountain Ox.

Jack's paragraph about his diorama: The part I chose to do for my diorama is when Praiseworthy punched Mountain Ox in the nose. I liked that Mountain Ox’s nose got red as a tomato. When Praiseworthy won everyone cheered. Jack was so happy." (There was a character named Jack in the book.)

Reading Award

Jack was recognized during a drive through awards ceremony today. He earned a trophy for 86 AR points! We're so proud of his hard work and love of reading. :)

Here he is with his librarian at school!

Almost Time!

The caterpillars, chrysalises, and butterflies are all over the place outside. We found this chrysalis, and it was almost ready to open!

So pretty!

I Have No Idea Where This Came From

Found in my pictures. It came from one of the boys' iPads, so I'm not even really sure what is going on here. I think that is a steering wheel cover on his head? That's probably a good thing I don't know!

The Aftermath

The dynamic duo made it through the day about as well as we could have hoped. Both were definitely tired and lacked energy. Jason said a few times throughout the day that his head hurt, too. Shawn experienced the most symptoms. He had a low grade fever and a bit of nausea toward the end of the day. Hopefully with a good night's sleep, they'll wake up feeling back to themselves.

We are just so proud of these boys willingly getting their shots so that we can all get closer back to normal.

Jack is waiting for his shot, too!

Friday Five

Another week down - only 2 more to go!

~~~
Shawn and Jason go get their 2nd Covid vaccine dose today. Fingers crossed that all goes well, and that they fare better than their parents with any side effects. ❤️
~~~

Jack worked hard this week and managed to reach his point goal of 100.2 for AR! So proud of him! He will be getting a trophy for all of his hard work.

~~~
Shawn got recommended to be a WEB leader for school next year! I am not sure that Shawn actually wants to do it, but it is really nice that his teacher nominated him for it. ❤️
~~~

Jason gave a virtual presentation this week in his AVID class on his college research. He totally knocked it out of the park, too. Way to go, Jay!

Playing Outside

Jack and I went outside to hang out. He found himself a little friend.

He let that thing crawl all over him for the LONGEST time. LOL

Meanwhile, I went chrysalis searching. We've got 8 back there still. :)

P.S. Still loving my phone's camera! It is amazing how much better the camera is compared to my last phone!

Facebook Memory

Facebook reminded me that ten years ago I started a 30 day blogging challenge. The goal was to add something to your blog every day for 30 days. I successfully completed the challenge, and here I am, ten years later, still trying to add something for each day. We have a post for every single day since May 2021. That's 3650 posts! Ten years and counting. :)

Growing Like a Weed

Jack felt a bit taller to me this weekend...sure enough. He's grown an inch in the last month! That explains the constant eating that he's been doing lately. lol

Garden Flowers

A few of our radishes started to flower. We figured we had to enjoy our flowers, radishes or not! lol

Our Version of Parkour?

When you have a severe shortage of climbable trees in your backyard...

But on the bright side, you don't have very far to fall.
