Cute Big Boy Saturday - Happy Halloween!

We had a great Halloween today! The boys got all gussied up in their costumes, and we headed to the mall to do a little trick or treating.

Officer Jason saluting.

Ring Master Jack is ready for the show!

"Mom, take my picture again. This is a better shot!"

Here is Charlie Brown Shawn!
We went trick or treating at a different place this year, which I think made our day so much nicer. It was outside, so it was a little warm, but the time of the event was much earlier than what we have done in the past.

"Let's go there, Mom!"

Jason and Jack  getting a treat from Raggedy Anne.
(We had to explain who she was. They didn't know!)

The crew owning the place like only we can do! ;)

More owning the place. lol

Jack had the cutest costume. Just love his tails!

The day was pretty fun-filled. After trick or treating, we got a bite to eat at Wendy's, shopped a little at Target, and made it back home in time to pass out candy. (The boys thought that was the best idea ever! They had so much fun passing out candy to the kids who came to the door. It was pretty neat to watch their excitement.) We carved our pumpkin and even managed to go trick or treating around our own neighborhood.

We ended the night in a candy induced coma...couldn't get any better than that!

Friday Five

This has been quite the crazy week. Party on Saturday, pictures on Sunday, spirit days at school, Halloween Parade...so much to do! Today, the boys got the day off of school for a teacher in-service day, and I think it was a really well timed rest.

Then we're off and running tomorrow as we celebrate Halloween and go out Trick or Treating!

~~~
Jason asked me the other day if, now that he is eight, he is now a man. I told him no, not exactly. "Oh, I know," he said. "I'm a junior man!"
Love it!
~~~

Said while doing homework this week:

"Mom, one of the rules for being a good friend is good hygiene."

Upon further questioning, because I couldn't let that gem go without investigating further, the hygiene in question is hand washing. Whew.

~~~
Jack now likes to go into his room, turn off all the lights, and watch YouTube videos. He creates his own little movie theater. Then he drags me into the room with him. Too cute!
~~~

While I was at work today, the big boys got to go to Target to spend some gift cards they got for their birthdays. Apparently, they had never used a gift card before (how we managed that, I don't know), so they thought the experience was pretty much the coolest thing ever. lol.

Costume Parade

The boys had their costume parade at school today.

A few of the kids waiting for the rest of the class to join them outside. They were so excited!

Shawn with Jen. :)

There's the smile after walking around showing off his costume. It's a little hard to tell, but he's dressed as Charlie Brown!

Jason had a blast walking around as Mr. Policeman.

I think he went to Heaven when this little beauty rolled up...

He was anamored with the policeman, too...

The boys had a fantastic day!

Eight - Birthday Day!

Just like that, these big boys turned eight. Eight! While we had their big family party on Saturday, we did celebrate their actual birthday today with some cupcakes and their gifts from mom and dad.

We put another Lego gummy on his cupcake.
He tried to take it off the moment he saw it. He is NOT a fan. lol

Thinking of his wish...

All out!

Shawn smiling with his cupcake.

Enjoying a song just for him. :)

And they're out!

We had them take turns unwrapping gifts...

They were both really happy with their gifts. Jason got quite a few different Lego gifts, while Shawn got a game and a Plah-doh kit because of a renewed interest in the stuff.

I think overall, the boys had a pretty terrific day. There was a Fireman assembly at school today, which thrilled Jason. The music teacher came in for music class today, too, which thrilled Shawn. Both boys totally believe that the special things at school were done just for them. We didn't tell them otherwise, either. :)

The boys selected glow stick bracelets and sticky hands to give out as treats to their classmates. They thought that was pretty great, too.

And then a party at home?! It was pretty much a great day all around!

The Eve of Eight

Just a bit ago, I kissed away the year of seven as I said goodnight to Shawn and Jason. Tomorrow, our two pound miracles will wake up as grown up eight year olds.

I can't believe it is going this fast. I know I say this a lot, but it's true.

Eight.

8!

Two years away from double digits...

My mind can't even wrap itself around that.

The house has been decorated. The balloons have been hung. In a few short hours, it will be a whole new world for them. Big things happen for eight year olds, you know.

Exciting things.

Fun things! :)

Here's hoping the year of 8 brings us lots of laughter, joy, and adventure!

Happy Birthday Eve, you two. We love you to the moon and back!

Cute Big Boy Saturday - Birthday Party!

Tonight we had a birthday celebration for Shawn and Jason!

My Lego gummy cake.
The boys were not exactly impressed with the taste of the gummies,
but they looked super cute!

Red for Jason!

Blue for Shawn!

I can't get over this picture...he looks SOOOO grown-up!

Jason, a teenager in a nearly eight year old's body.

Thinking about his wish....

He's all set...

And blow!

A second attempt...

Success!

Shawn was the cutest thing while we sang to him.
After every line of the birthday song, Shawn would yell, "Yeah!" lol!

Getting set...

Blow!

And keep blowing because these candles won't go out!

One last time for the finish!

Jason was thrilled to get this Lego set!

A little cash was a big hit, too!

Shawn got cool watercolors and art pad.

And the game Connect 4.
I love his face here!

And it isn't a birthday celebration without the
traditional picture of Jay on grandma's lap--his favorite place to be!

We had a fun, crazy time, just like usual. ;)
