Halloween 2016

Today, the boys had a great time celebrating Halloween. They trick-or-treated like pros!

After quite a bit of deliberation, Jack decided that he wanted to be a jack-o-lantern this year. So, jack-o-lantern he was! He was a pretty cute one, at that!

Jay rocked his Harry Potter costume. He was VERY pleased that people immediately recognized him, too.

He had it all, even the scar!

Shawn also was set on being a pumpkin. He was more than okay with Jack taking over his actual costume and settled nicely on his jack-o-lantern shirt instead.

It is hard to tell, but his hair is even green! lol

We went to the outlet mall to trick-or-treat like we did last year. Again, it was a success. The boys scored loads of candy and loved talking to everyone.

Shawn used his walker the entire time this year! Right here, he's "skating" as he calls it (sitting down and using his foot to move himself along), but he is doing the work. ;)

This last one cracks me up. Jack insisted he needed a scar, too. He officially became a "Harry Fatter Pumpkin" as he called it. He was a little off with the name, but it sort of went with the costume. LOL

After trick-or-treating at the outlet mall, we headed to grandma's house for a bit before we headed home for even more trick-or-treating. They had a blast!

Yay for a great Halloween 2016!

Friday Five...I Mean Four

On Thursday the boys begged to decorate the house for Halloween. I went to the dollar store and loaded up on all kinds of stuff for them to put around everywhere. They. LOVED. It. lol. Had I known they'd get this much of a kick out of decorating, I would have done it earlier. ;)

Note to self: remember this epiphany for next year!

~~~
The boys have been talking about sore throats the last day or so. Let's all think positive thoughts. lol. We've made it this long cold free...I am stingy and want to make it last until the end of the year!
~~~

The bow/arrow set and dart ball/board game the boys got for their birthday are a hit! Now if they could only figure out how to his the targets and boards, we'd be getting somewhere! Ha!

~~~
Shawn had fun cruising in his new excavator...
~~~

It looks like today is a Friday Four kind of day. lol. More tomorrow!

The Eve of 9

Just a bit ago, I kissed away the year of eight as I said goodnight to Shawn and Jason. Tomorrow, our two pound miracles will wake up as grown up nine year olds.

How cute are these two?

I know I say this every year, but I can't believe it is going this fast.

Nine.

9!

One short year away from double digits...

My mind can't even wrap itself around that.

The house has been decorated. The balloons have been hung. In a few short hours, it will be a whole new world for them. Big things happen for nine year olds, you know. (Just ask Jason, he'll tell you it is true!)

Exciting things.

Fun things! :)

Here's hoping the year of 9 brings us lots of laughter, joy, and adventure!

Happy Birthday Eve, you two. We love you to the moon and back!

Brotherly Love

Today, while Shawn was walking through school, he heard a yell. He instantly recognized the yell as Jack's and made an immediate beeline to where he thought Jack was.

Shawn was right, Jack was very upset.

Shawn was able to quickly calm Jack down by talking to him. He asked him if he was okay. He gave him a kiss. Then he told Jack the words we always say, "Listen. Think. And be nice." Jack soon felt better.

With that, Shawn went on his way back to where he was going, leaving Jack to get back to what he needed to be doing. The entire exchange only lasted a few moments, but the effect was profound.

And you know what? I couldn't be prouder of our Shawn. He truly is an amazing big brother. xoxo

Okay Then

He told us he was hungry. Apparently we didn't move fast enough to alleviate that problem. He took matters into his own hands and made himself some lunch.

He's quite pleased with himself, too. lol

Star of the Week

This week, Jack gets to be his class's Star of the Week. We got to make a poster for him to take and share with his class - he picked the pictures to share. (He is definitely particular. Sheesh.)

He also filled out a questionnaire:

I am 5 years old. (Talked him out of saying he is 95 years old. He insists he is.)
My favorite color is rainbow.
My favorite thing to eat is popsicles.
My favorite television show is Veggie Tales. (This one was interesting to me. I don't know where he learned about Veggie Tales. I have never seen that show!)
My favorite book is Little Kitty Big City. (Not sure what this book is. I'd say his favorite book is one of the Little Blue Truck books, but what do I know?)
My favorite song is Theme Song.
I am good at playing with Jason.
When I grow up, I want to be a bumble bee.

Cute Big Boy Saturday - Pumpkin Carvers

The boys got the chance to carve their pumpkins this afternoon!

They didn't do too badly, either! :)
