French Fry

Jack found French fries today.

 Shawn and Jason have loved French Fries for years.

Jack, on the other hand, has never shown any interest in French Fries...until today, that is.

In the past, it was often a struggle to even make him try a French Fry. The mere mention of trying one was like we were trying to force him to eat poison. It got to the point that we would offer, he'd refuse, and we'd all go about our meal. (He is not our most adventurous eater at all.)

But for some reason, today was different.

We gave him a French fry expecting him to make all the unhappy faces and forced exclamations of “This tastes delicious!” he normally offers, but instead tonight, he ate the first fry, perked up and asked for more.

More!

And when he was handed only three more fries, he quickly asked for the whole French fry box.

What have we done? We may have created a French Fry monster!

Friday Five

Jack's class went on TWO field trips this week. He went to a history museum, where he saw lots of dinosaurs, and he also saw a bunch of trucks. That's about all he'd tell me of the experience. Oh, he also said he liked the bus. Ha!

Anyway, I know he didn't say much about them, but he had a blast! LOL

~~~
The boys will turn in their school issued iPads next week. That's a sure sign that the end of the school year is here. Woo Hoo!
~~~

Speaking of the end, only 15 days left. We're super excited about that fact around these parts.

~~~
Shawn asked me about our pool this week. I think it is time we set it up. Maybe we'll even get it set up before the weekend is out. Shawn can't wait!
~~~

Jason has done a fantastic job with his reading this year. He has earned pretty close to 200 AR points! He's trying to finish a book he's reading right now before the deadline on the 29th, so he can add one more test to his impressive reading list. Way to go, Jay!

Summer Bucket List 2018

Today, Jason asked about our Summer Bucket list. If that isn't reason enough to get things rolling on our summer list of fun, I'm not sure what would be. Besides, we're getting down to the last of the school year -- only 17 days left for the boys and 21 days left for me - so, clearly, our time to compose our list is running out.

When asked what we should add to the list, Jay thinks we should have big things and little things on our list this year. He suggested we include playing Xbox (he tried to add that he would play with mom or dad, but I'm pretty sure he was really wanting to play with his friends on Xbox Live). We'll be looking for more ideas over the next few weeks!

Overheard...

At Target on Friday...

 Him: Oh my God. I don't think this is something that belongs in the toy aisle! Oh God!

And what did he see, you ask? Why this, of course!

Isaac explained that he thought this is a game. He added, "All 3 of you guys would probably get a high score!" LOL

Terrarium

This is currently residing on our kitchen table.

He won the two little toy geckos at school. He came home and decided he needed a place to keep them, so this "terrarium" is the result. It looks to me like these two guys are pretty happy in their home. :)

Cute Big Boy Saturday

He came around the corner of the aisle with this thing...

"So mom can hear me!"

Thankfully, daddy thought better of a purchase like this. Ahem. LOL

Friday Five

Well, the mission projects are finally complete! The boys took their missions to school on Monday and presented their reports to the class today. Both boys did a FANTASTIC job. We are so proud of you both!

~~~
Jack has been asking to try honey, which is not something we have around the house. We finally broke down and bought some for him to try.
He was good with a drop. And that was all he wanted. For some reason, the kid was not a fan. It is at times like this that I question whether he can be my child. LOL
~~~

The boys made their teachers magnets for teacher appreciate week. They are seriously cute! I think we are going to make some for us, too. :)

~~~
After a bit of a dry spell, we're all excited that our monarch caterpillars are back. It's so fun seeing them in a range of sizes all over our garden. It's also fun trying to find where they've made their chrysalises around the yard. They can put those things in the craziest places!
~~~

Countdown to the end of school ... only 4 more weeks to go for the boys! So exciting. I think it's time for us to start working on our Summer Bucket List!

Throwback Thursday - 2015

Mostly Wordless Wednesday

This little guy is a game Jack picked out for himself. It's called Crocodile Dentist. The kids take turn pushing one of the bottom teeth down until the crocodile's mouth snaps closed. (Much like a real crocodile, this little game has quite the bite...but, I digress.)

The boys think he's cool anyway, and have dubbed him, Gustav. He's now sort of like another member of the family. LOL.

Way to Go, Jack!

Mr. Jack made it a goal to earn 40 or more AR points before the end of May, so he could earn a trophy. Guess who met his goal?!

He still has until the end of the month before the deadline is here, and he has already pushing 42 AR points! That is outstanding, especially when you consider the number of books he's had to read to reach that goal. Each book is only 0.5 points...

You are rocking it, Jack! Keep up the hard work! We're so proud of you!

Mother's Day!

Today, all my boys treated me to a nice day. They brought me sweet notes and some candy. Isaac made me a yummy lunch and dinner. He even made a chocolate cake!

We did keep the day relatively quiet, though. I'm still trying to get over the latest round of crud that came through the house, so I spent much of the day horizontal rather than vertical.

Still, it was nice to have the love of all my boys on this day. ❤️

Friday Five

This post is a tad late. It seems that I came down with the boys' crud, so posting on time wasn't top of my priority list. I'm trying my hardest to keep my germs contained to me so not to spread the crud around another lap of the house. Fingers crossed.

~~~
We have made great progress on the boys' mission projects. All they have left is to now memorize their speeches. My kitchen wall is currently wallpapered with mission info in an effort to help them learn. Whew.
At least the end is in sight! Yay!
~~~

Jack's project was also a success. He had to invent something and complete a little packet about his invention. He based his invention off of a real life problem -- a spider on our ceiling -- and created the "Itsy Bitsy Spider Catcher." He put tape at the end of a pencil for his "catcher." It was freaking adorable. His teacher even said his presentation was great. She had him share it several times with different people around the school!

~~~
This gem was from this afternoon:
“Mom. This state...Our wonderful state of California...it is here that the fortune cookie was invented. Did you know that?!” I did not, in fact, know that.
Then he proceeded to slow cap for the state. Because of course.
There you go. Now you have another useless fact to to store for the next game of Trivia Pursuit.
~~~

5 weeks of school left! Woo to the double who!
