Mostly Wordless Wednesday - Paint

Out of the blue, Jack asked if he could paint. Who am I to tell the boy no when he needs to release his inner creativity?

This brush is so cool!

Paint brush?
I brush my teeth?
(He then tried to brush my teeth, too.)

Do you like my painting?

This is so fun!

He was quite proud of his finished product, too. :)

Awesome

Awesome is ...

... the entire family playing a rousing game of duck, duck, goose before bed.

... the feel of rough pats on my head.

... the sound of "Duck!" and "Goose!" over and over.

... the weight of my guys as they collapse into my arms.

... the laughter and squeals of delight from three giggling boys.

It really can't get much better than that. :)

Jack, oh Jack. He is quite the character. While we mostly got through year two without many issues, year three has been ... eventful. The boy wears his emotions on his sleeve, and fluctuates between happy and sad faster than a speeding bullet.

And the 'tude! Jeez. It is apparent we have one of these bad boys in the house:

Jack is quick to laugh, loves playing and snuggling, and is all about doing, doing, doing whatever pops into that bright little mind of his. Most of the time, he is just too dang cute!

He is also quick to cry, scream, and show his displeasure. Sigh.

I've kept a mental tally of the things that have brought our little Tank to the brink of despair (or anger depending):
  • Jason wouldn't let him play with his (Jason's) iPad
  • I gave him a banana after he asked for it
  • I picked him up
  • I put him down
  • I didn't do what he wanted (although he failed to tell me what that was) fast enough
  • I am not a mind reader
  • I closed the door so I could go to the bathroom in peace
  • I corrected him when he said there were 9 crayons in the box. There were only 8.
  • I wouldn't let him rip up his brothers' homework
  • Isaac stopped him from kicking Isaac in the head
  • I said, "No."
  • He couldn't go outside during the 40 mile per hour winds
  • The cat ran away from him
  • His brother got too close to his toy
That's just the few I can remember! lol. Fortunately (I think it's a fortunate thing.) the fits are quick to end once he loses his audience.

It's been kind of crazy, and we aren't even a whole month into this year yet. I'm not sure we'll make it through the next eleven at this rate!

Jack Sings the Blues

In case you didn't catch it, he's even playing the piano at the beginning. This kid has it rough, man. ;)

Conversations With 6 Year Olds

While in the car:

"Mom, why do mommies always know everything, even when daddies are there?"

Um...they just do! ;)

Awards Assembly!

We had an exciting day today. The big boys had an awards assembly at school!

The kids were divided into three groups based on the awards they were to receive. The first group was comprised of students receiving awards for citizenship. Shawn was in the second group, or the Language Arts group. Jason was in the third group for mathematics.

They called each group onto the stage. It so happened that Shawn stood next to the boys' sweet little friend, Layla. They stood there for a moment and then the two of them started rubbing noses. It was just about the cutest thing ever!

Shawn and Layla rubbing noses. :)
They called out each student's name and handed them the award. It was too funny when they got to Shawn and called his name. He yelled out, "Here!"

"Here!" He raised his hand and everything!

He's trying to tell his teacher something.

Shawn with his classmates.

Jason was next. He was somewhat reluctant to get on the stage with all of the people watching.

Smiling for his picture!

I am one proud mama!

Mostly Wordless Wednesday - Brotherly Love

Shawn really is a sweetie when it comes to his brothers. He tells me often how cute Jack is and how much he loves him. It melts my heart.

Shawn sharing his LeapPad with Jack.

Jack put his head down, and Shawn reached over to give him a kiss.

As if that wasn't sweet enough, he rubbed his back, too.

So sweet!

Star of the Week!

It's Shawn's turn to be Star of the Week! This week, the class will get the chance to get to know Shawn better. He also gets to enjoy special privileges in class.

On Monday, his teacher sent home a special poster for Shawn to complete. He shares it with his class tomorrow. :)

Working hard on his poster.

Drawing his self portrait.
(FYI, my hand only weights his pencil. He moves it.)

He's looking all proud of himself! Love it!

Voila! His completed poster!

I am 6 years old.
My favorite animal is a lion.
This is what I look like. Love his drawing. (He
insisted we include a bathtub in the picture, too. LOL!)

My favorite color is green.
My favorite food is bananas.
My family (with a recent pic of us)

When I grow up, I want to be a doctor. He drew a medical bag.
If I had one wish, I would wish for a sunny day. He drew a sun,
a tree, a bird flying, and some strawberries. :)

The zoo is my favorite place.
My favorite thing to do is play outside.

Here he is showing off his handiwork!

I'm so proud of him! He worked very hard on it. I hope he has a lot of fun presenting it to his class!

Easter Pictures

Our Easter this year was pretty awesome. The boys woke up bright and early with a gasp and a "Look! The bunny left paw prints!" It was too cute. :)

The tracks started in the big boys' room...

led down the hall...

into the kitchen...

and right to their Easter baskets!

Then the tracks led to the living room...

where the Easter Bunny left some magnets to paint...

 hummingbird feeder...

some outside chalk...

and some eggs to hide outside!

He also left a jelly bean pooping chicken because,
well, because he knew the boys would think it was funny.
What can I say? Ahem.

Jason was the first to spy the baskets.

Jack found a "hopper" sit and bounce ball.

Jason got some Jacks to play with, too.
He's still mastering that skill.

Shawn got some more bubbles among his goodies.

Jack proceeded to empty his basket and play with
all of the fun! grass! that managed to stick everywhere. :)

Shawn found some candy to enjoy.
He is a fan. He gets that from me.

Look at all the flavors of Jelly Beans!
Shawn and Jack decided it was time to redecorate the living room with grass.
Jack playing with the before our Easter egg hunt.

After the boys played with their baskets, we headed outside to go on our Easter egg hunt!

Jack found his first egg by the play dome!

Shawn found an egg by the back door.

Jason found his first egg in the flower bed.

Jack had fun sliding his eggs down the slide.

Jay finally found an almost too cleverly hidden egg.

Shawn was chillaxin' in the swing.

Jack took his turn on the swing, too.

We had to check out all of our new chalk, too.

The day was really fun and a nice way to end our spring break!
