We are on the home stretch. The boys just finished their second to last week of school. Next week will be filled with fun activities like a field day for Jack, BBQ for the big boys, and a popcorn movie day to name a few. Bring on the fun!

Our Summer Bucket list continues to grow. We can't wait to get started on the fun! Our schedules work against us (I get out a week later than them, and they go back two and a half weeks earlier than me) and have limited our summer time together, so we'll have to get a jump on completing our list soon!

Jason came home this week and said that one of his friends was goofing off and told him, after she put a hat on his head, that he now has lice. This did not make me happy at all. lol. When I told Jason that I'd have to shave his head to get rid of the little boogers if he, in fact, did end up getting lice, he immediately went to the iPad to look up information. I was vindicated when his research found the phrase "shaving the head is an effective, yet impractical solution." I think he'll be a lot more careful with the lice risk in the future because of this!

Shawn's bike came in. We are so excited! It really is a cool bike. After assembling it, we did find that some of the bolts needed to secure the seat were missing. We contacted the company, and they'll be sending out the replacements asap. Yay!

It's four today...I'm too tired to think of a number five!

Great Bike Update 2
There are a number of things that we need to do to apply for the grant for Jason's bike. One thing that is part of the application is a letter from the recipient. Jason wrote his letter this afternoon:
How sweet is that letter? So proud of him!

Dear Athletes Helping Athletes Foundation,
My name is Jason. I am 9 years old. I would like an adaptive bike because I've never rode my own bike befor (sic) and want to experience it myself. The only bike I've ever rode was at the XXX Therapy Unit. Riding a bike will strengthen my legs and my hamstrings. It will also let me go very fast. Maybe I can even race my friends!
I really hope you can help me get a bike.
Sincerely, Jason

The Great Bike Update
We were contacted by the bike company this week and finalized specifics so Shawn will get a bike that is perfect for him. It looks like it will be shipped soon! We can't wait!
Meanwhile, we got an application in the works to hopefully get a bike for Jay, too!
Stay tuned!

Great Bike Giveaway
We did it! Shawn will get his bike! We should be hearing from the vendor in 1-4 weeks to size him and order exactly what he needs to make his bike perfect for him. We are so excited!
But the Great Bike Giveaway isn't over yet. There are still other kids still fundraising for a bike of their own. Whatever extra funds we raise will go toward helping another child reach his or her dream of bike ownership. Please consider donating to help out other kids reach their goals. ❤ We have until March 15th!

Great Bike Giveaway
Hi everyone!
Just recently, our Shawnie has started working on a new skill. He is finally strong enough to start riding a bike, on his own, and let me tell you, he loves it! Unfortunately, Shawn can't just ride any old bike; he needs one that supports him in all the right areas. This is known as an adaptive bike. Anytime something has the term "adaptive" in its name, you can bet that it will be expensive. Alarmingly expensive. Adaptive bikes are no different.
That's why we decided to participate in the Great Bike Giveaway. This campaign allows us to fund raise on the behalf of Shawn and other kids to help them get adaptive bikes of their very own. So cool!
Our goal is $1450 and beyond...please help us reach our goal! We'd greatly appreciate it! xoxo
