Warrior
Shawn was a bit hesitant to get into the bigger pool. He wanted to, but he was definitely leery of it. Today he conquered his fear and got in. He had so much fun!
This kid pushes through on the regular. He's our warrior man-child. We're so proud of him!

Friday Five
Our first week of summer is under our belts. It has been glorious!
~~~
This week, we had a somewhat lazy schedule established with very few limits on anyone. During the week, they got a little iPad time in after they got up, but iPads went up until early evening. Other than that, we only asked that everyone get dressed and put deodorant on. LOL. (Hey, during the time of pandemic and online only school, pajamas became the welcomed norm.)
It went well! lol
Next week, we'll start adding in a few more demands of their time. I am loosely formulating a schedule of 1) do something academic, 2) do some reading, 3) do something around the house, 4) do something you want to get better at doing, and 6) do something you love.
Once something has been checked in each box, they'll get to earn their coveted iPad time. They seem relatively agreeable to this idea. Fingers crossed that my vision plays out well in reality. :)
~~~
We got a bigger pool this year to accommodate our bigger boys. They love it!
~~~
It was pointed out to me that we haven't got a Summer Bucket list going this year. We're going to have to get on that, too!
~~~
We pulled out the ping pong table this week, too! That has been an adventure for sure. lol.

Country Jack
Although it hasn't exactly been hot because of the wind, the sun has been very intense lately. Poor Jack even got a sunburn on his nose!
This made me chuckle because I think it gives him such a country vibe. lol

First Trip to Target
On Friday, we took the boys on their first trip to Target since the pandemic began in March 2020. We had been away from Target so long, they even managed to rearrange the entire store. We didn't know where anything was! lol
The boys enjoyed it, though. Jack and Jay bought some toys. Shawn got himself some candy.
Ahh...it was so nice to do something "normal" after this long time.
I think it is safe to say Shawn enjoyed himself. lol

Explosion
There has been a chrysalis explosion outside. We've found 20 so far, plus 1 in the J formation, and 1 traveling the fence looking for a place to settle. They are EVERYwhere!
This guy is just about to go into the chrysalis form. His antennae are flat and withered. His body is all flakey and dry.
This guy is searching for his forever home, I think. LOL
This video is of the one in the J formation above. It is so cool to watch them transform!

Friday Five
The boys got out of school yesterday, and I got out of school today. School is officially out for summer! Wooooo to the double Whooooo!!!
Tonight I started putting away "school" so we can get a visual break from our year's online existence. It brings me so much joy to have it more back to the old normal in the house.
~~~
Report cards came today for the big boys. They did awesome. Between the two of them they got 10 A+s, 1 A, and 1 B-. Fantastic work! We are so proud!
~~~
We are going to venture out to Target this afternoon for the boys' annual end of school toy trip. They haven't been to Target since March of 2020, but the big boys are now 2 weeks post dose 2 of their vaccine! Jack is still not vaccinated yet because he is too young, but we will all stay masked, and we have really low infection rates in our area. Fingers crossed for a fun trip!
~~~
Last night we went to the Dinosaur Empire drive thru exhibit. Jack saw it advertised online and asked to go, so we surprised the boys with it. I'm not sure it was as exciting as the advertisements implied, but the boys thought it was interesting. Jack was pleased, too. :)
~~~
Shawn's been telling everyone he talked to at school that he was going on a vacation. I think we're going to have to try to make that happen. I'm thinking we'll find another glamping type of experience sometime soon.

Last Day of School!
These guys made it through one of the toughest school years ever. Made it through and excelled! We are so proud of how they all tackled online school!
