We have some exciting news...
On April 17, 2009, we will be throwing Jason a virtual party. Why you ask?
Because he (and by that I mean we) get to finally chuck his helmet out the window!
Jason had a helmet check several weeks back. For those of you counting, Jason has worn his helmet for SIX AND A HALF MONTHS! When the helmet guy (I have no idea what his official title is which is totally rude) asked how Jason was tolerating it, which was the same question he always asks, I looked him dead in the eyes and told him that we were all at our end.
He promptly replied that it looked like this was the last month of the helmet.
Funny how that worked out...ha ha ha. If I knew that was all it would take, I would have told him that a looooong time ago! Jeez!
So, on April 17th, we are going to be throwing a virtual party to celebrate the end of the helmet. You are all invited.
P.S. I need a catchy name for this party, though. Any ideas?
P.S.S. What do you think about the new ticker I added above this post? :-)

A Little Buggie
A very terrible thing has happened. My computer is sick. Well, sick might sort of be an understatement. Sick is what you would call a computer with one or two viruses. Maybe a handful. At our house, though, we don't do the usual. Oh, no. We go all out over here.
So what does all out mean?
It means 7 and 8. Together. Yes, my computer somehow managed to get (in a very short period of time I might add) 78 viruses. How does something like this happen?
I have to admit that I feel somewhat dirty from all of my 'puter's little buggies. I am a nice, upstanding citizen in my Internet communities. I don't wander around needlessly or hang out in sleazy undesirable sites. I don't accept emails from unknowns. I just sit here scratching my head (while wiping away a few tears) as to how this could happen.
I have concluded that my computer goes a little 'computer gone wild' as soon as I walk away (as it couldn't possibly be my fault alone), and if her medical condition is any indication, she is quite loose, too. Bad computer!
So, sorry for the radio silence on my end. I will be posting as soon as I get my little puter back from her rendezvous with her geeky pals.
Edited to add: My computer had been in quarantine with geeks for a few days and got a brand spanking new hard drive to boot! She's out now and raring to go, so I will have a post up soon!

The Laundry Basket
You know what they say--children find entertainment in the simplest things, and it is never what you may think.
Buy your children an expensive toy, and they'll ignore the toy and play with the box it came in for hours.
Have a room full of educational things for children to play with, and they'd rather play with something from around the house.
My children have found the laundry basket. This thing has become a new fixture to our living room as well as a focal point for some pretty heated exchanges between the dynamic duo. If one is near it, the other wants to be near it, too. If one is in it, the other one wants in it, too. (note: Putting both boys in the basket at the same time sounds like a good idea. Take my word on the fact that it really isn't. Oh boy is it not a good idea.)
It goes something like this: It's mine (pantomimed of course)...no it's mine (also in pantomime)...wahhhhh (why isn't this in pantomime?)...wahhhhh (louder)...
I am sure you get the idea.

Shawn was here enjoying the basket. Along came Jason...
Um, mom? Could you kindly tell him to buzz off?
Hey! That's mine!
Mom!
Oh, good. He's leaving. I didn't really want that orange ring anyway.
But it really was the best ring. How come he always gets the good stuff?
Wait! Now he wants my yellow ring, too!
No, mommy! I don't want the orange ball. I want the orange ring!
Brothers...bleh.
Double bleh.
At least I have the basket to myself!
And then, when we all try to "play" together...
Shawn: This ball is mine.
Jason: Nuh uh. It's mine!
Me: Boys! Stop it!!!
These last ones are of Jason with the basket all by himself. He had pulled it across the room to get it away from Shawn.
What?
Ha Ha! I got the basket!
He's looking a bit smug here, isn't he? Cute, but definitely smug. I'm in trouble with this one.

We're Getting Bigger!
Jason was in quite the mood the other day. He definitely wanted to show off to the camera. So of course I had to take him up on the offer...
On the length and weight front, we just had a little check-up with the doctor. Are you ready for this? I can't believe how big they've grown!
Jason:
length: 31 3/4 inches
weight: 22 pounds 12 ounces
Shawn:
length: 30 1/2 inches
weight: 22 pounds 3 ounces
Whoa! They're not so little any more!
Shawn, on the other hand, has developed a nasty habit of freezing when he sees the little light for the flash. If he keeps his eyes open, his face goes all slack, sort of like he zones out. If he holds the smile on his face, he closes his eyes to protect them from the flash. I see a couple of months of some pretty funky pictures ahead of us. Sigh.
Still, I managed to get a few of him eating some avocado last night. He really likes it and had a quarter of an avocado with his dinner! (Jason, doesn't care for it one bit.)
