Thursday Tidbit

The scene: The mother is cleaning off the counter tops and loading the dishwasher. The boys are in their highchairs, playing with blocks. They'd just finished breakfast.

Mother: "Aaaach-chooooo"

The boys: (in chorus) "Blesssssss......yyyyouuuuuu." (it is way cute how they say this)

Mother: "Well, thank you, boys!"

Jason: "You're welcome."

The scene ends as the boys go back to playing with blocks while their mother stands there slightly shocked.

I swear it amazes me how quickly and easily they pick stuff up. I know I never directly taught them to say "You're welcome." Still, it is there. Wow.

Who'd have thought it? Manners! We must be doing something right. :-)

Plus it totally counteracts a certain curse word a male member of the family may have taught them. Ahem.

Mostly Wordless Wednesday - Ready? We Go?

Jason definitely gets the concept of when I have my purse on, it means we are going somewhere.

Here he is trying to give me the idea to get moving out the door. (and no, I wasn't planning on going anywhere!)

Couple this scene with the insistent "Mommy. Ready? We go?" and you can see why I thought this was so funny. :-)

Plus, he has great taste in purses...um, I mean men's carryalls. Ahem.

The Fair!

I know, I know. It's been a while. I apologize for leaving you all hanging. Let's just say that this has been one heck of a month. Now it's back to our regular programming. :-)

On Saturday, we took the boys to the fair and had a wonderful time! Our trip in pictures...

Look out fair, here we come!

We started off visiting the animals. Shawn is trying to pet the bunny rabbit. Well, maybe "pet" is not exactly the right word. Maybe "pull out the rabbit's fur" is a better description.

Forget about the rabbits! What is this paper here. I want that! (I swear he almost pulled the railing off of all the cages!)


Mommy, these things stink. Peee-you!

Jason is checking out the pigs.

Shawn: Awww...look at this little goat!

Jason: Goat? Who cares about a goat? Look at this big screw in the fence! (I am not sure if he ever saw the goat again once he found that stupid screw. Boys.)

Wow. This sheep has won awards!

Here we are looking at the horse. Smile everyone. Shawn isn't exactly sure of this whole horse thing.


Then the horse had the nerve to blow snot at us! Shawn was D.O.N.E. at that point! It was gross, I have to admit. It hit us in the face! Let's just say thank goodness for glasses. Ahem. (shudder)



Poor Shawn was very upset about the whole thing.

Now for the petting zoo. Jason petting the llama.

And the pot bellied pig. (he was attached to my hip like glue, though!)

This goat got a little aggressive. See him on my leg.

I'm not sure about this, mommy! It's kind of fun, but...


Here he is petting another goat just before we left. It was too funny. He'd reach down to touch the goat, and then pull his hand back super fast. My mom tried to get a picture of him petting it, but he was too fast!

I'm done now!

Shawny's turn.

Now, to be fair, this was just after the whole horse incident, AND he had just watched a deer try to eat me. Well, he tried to eat my clothes. Still, I am sure that it was traumatic just the same.

Let's just say that Shawn wasn't "in" to the whole petting zoo idea.

Looking at some goats. This might be okay.


Um, nope. I don't think so! That deer is getting waaaaaay toooo close!


I don't like the goat either!

Thinking about petting the pig...

Definitely not wanting to pet the--what is this thing? Kangaroo? Wallaby? Well, he didn't want to pet whatever it was!

Before we left, we had to have the traditional fair mini donuts. They were a HUGE hit! They totally made up for the whole petting zoo fiasco according to Shawn. :-)

All in all, we had a great time. The boys were their amazing selves as usual (even though both of them had off and on fevers for a few days). We can't wait to go back next year!
