Shawn finally pooped today, a mere SIX FREAKING days after his last bowel movement. Of course, this was after pedialyte, pear juice, prune juice, suppositories, more screaming than I thought anything could ever possibly scream, countless diaper checks after semi-encouraging gas explosions--disappointing exercises for all involved, an x-ray (which said, "Hey, your kid has some poop in his bowels" - so enlightening), two frantic doctor calls, a doctor visit, a potential hospital visit if things didn't improve real soon (we were SO close), no sleep for anyone in the family for quite a while, a volatile few nights between me and the hubby, and us going insane.
Today the poop finally came. He is feeling better, I think. I hope. Let this poop thing continue, please. We. Love. Poop.
But now Jason is constipated, too. At least we know a few things to try...

We Are 6 Months Old!
Can you believe that? The boys turn 6 months old the day after they are conceived...it blows my mind sometimes!
This month has been very eventful for Team Lopez. I started back to work last Monday. Although I walked around like a deer caught in headlights last week, both the boys took it in stride and are enjoying their time with grandma.
The boys have their 6 month check-ups on the 12th. They'll get their next round of shots (shhh...don't tell them) and we'll get updates on their heights and weights. Plus, I am hoping we'll be able to start some solids!
I have some pictures to upload to commemorate the occasion, but I am a bit slow today. I will try to have them up by tonight or tomorrow.
Keep reading below for updates on the boys...

Shawn - 6 Months Old!
Shawn:
Weight: Somewhere between 14-15 lbs. He is wearing size 6 months onesies, although they are still a little loose, with 0-3 month old pants. Shawn is still in Size 2 diapers.
Length: 26.5 inches! That is in the 25 - 50 percentile for a 6 month old! Who's a preemie now?
Feedings: Shawn eats anywhere between 4 - 5 ounces of formula a feeding for a total of anywhere between 24 - 28 ounces a day.
Favorites: Shawn loves to kick and hit the toys on his play mat. He also loves the mirror and sucking on his blanket or pacifier. He is content to be in his swing. Shawn also loves to be on the play mat with Jason. He smiles and bats at him when they are together.
Least Favorites: Shawn is not a big fan of laying on his belly. He will immediately roll over when you put him on it.
Issues: Shawn has had a rough couple of weeks. He has been sick, but we hope that his health returns to normal quickly. He also still has some reflux, so he has to sit upright after he eats for a half an hour. (That is a killer in the middle of the night!)
Personality: Shawn is the more serious of the two. He smiles, but will make you work for it if he isn't in the mood! Shawn can also get upset and cries often without warning.
Areas to Work On: Getting healthy!
New Things: Shawn is also teething! He has two little buds trying to poke their way through his bottom gums! Shawn has also taken to sucking on his blankie (cloth diaper). It is quite cute to watch him clutch it and pull it to his mouth. Personally, I don't mind this so much because it was getting old having to hold his pacifier in his mouth all of the time!
Randomness: Shawn is very strong. He likes to push off of your lap when you hold him!

Jason - 6 Months Old!
Jason:
Weight: Somewhere between 15-16 lbs. He is wearing size 6 months clothes. Jason is still in Size 2 diapers, but we may be going to size 3 soon (I already have them ready!).
Length: 26 inches! That is in the 75 percentile for a 6 month old! Who's a preemie now?
Feedings: Jason eats anywhere between 4 - 6 ounces of formula a feeding for a total of anywhere between 26 - 32 ounces a day. He can really eat when he wants to!
Favorites: Jumping in his Jolly Jumper. Sucking on his hands. He also loves it when you talk to him. He is quite social and loves to smile. He laughs when you give him "slurberts" on his belly.
Least Favorites: He hates to be ignored. He also hates lay on his play mat for any length of time without someone right there to entertain him.
Issues: He still doesn't reach and grab toys as often as he should. He is also on the lazy side and will go to sleep rather than do something he doesn't want to do (like playing on his mat). He won't even try it first!
Personality: Sweet, funny, and playful. Jason has a pattern of facial expressions he likes to give: first is the furrowed brow, then is the pushed out lip, and last is the brilliant smile. He also enjoys the television far too much for a 6 month old!
Areas to Work On: Using his arms for something other than a teething ring!
New Things: Jason will sleep up to 8 hours during the night. We often have to wake him to eat now. (I am paranoid he won't eat enough if I don't wake him.) He also has the tell tale markings of lower teeth! He is constantly sucking on his hands and drooling, and there is a tooth under the surface that is just waiting to escape!
Randomness: Jason doesn't seem to want to play with Shawn when they are on their mat. The sibling issues have already started!

On this day, one year ago, the boys were conceived. You started out as a lot of hope and tiny little embryos--and now look at you! You're so strong and big!
(I've wonderd which one of those little embryos you are.) You can tell you have good looks, even from the very beginning.
Happy Conception Day, Boys!
We love you very much...
