Wait a Minute...

Psyching the boys up for the new Team Lopez tradition, the Elf on the shelf!

What's this you say?
Something is going to come to our house to WATCH US?
All the time?

I don't think I'm going to like this...
Do you suppose the Elf will recognize me in my disguise?
The Elf makes his debut tomorrow!

Trimming the Tree

Tree trimming is so much fun!

Jason geared himself up for tree decorating. He's wearing his
"safety" gloves. lol

Shawn helped put up the lights.

Jack added a few of his own ornaments.
This time it was his green frog.

Jack was so excited by all the ornaments.

Jason loves the red ones.

Shawn was partial to the grey sparkle ornaments.

Jason climbing the step stool for a higher vantage point.

Another grey one for Shawn. :-)

Placing the ornaments in just the right spot.

Daddy and Jay

Jason is proud of his handiwork.

Shawn is pretty proud, too.

The finished product.

This has been an interesting year as far as Christmas decorations go because this year we've got ourselves a boy who gets into everything. I have to admit to being somewhat a lot nervous about the Christmas tree in particular. I just knew that the littlest boy around these parts would be all over a tree.

So, I decided to keep all of my sentimental ornaments packed away this year and invested in a bunch of shatterproof ornaments to use instead. (That was a good idea on my part. Let's just say that the littlest boy around these parts has not disappointed me with his interest in the tree. Sigh.)

Mostly Wordless Wednesday - Momentous Occasion

Today we experienced a truly momentous occasion.

What happened, you ask?

I gave three - yes three! - haircuts without a single tear from the little people. Sure there were anticipation tears as they saw me get everything ready, but during the actual cutting, they didn't cry. (Once they realized that I would be using scissors and not the vacuum, they relaxed some. Apparently I have caused the boys possibly years of future therapy because I had the nerve to use the FloBee on them when they were little. Another parenting win for me--or is that a parenting loss for them? You get the point. Sigh.)

This is huge.

Seriously. HUGE. It's definitely something that has never happened before. Woooo to the triple whooooo!

Plus, if I do say so myself, they look pretty darn good to boot!

While Shawn totally rocked his Justin Bieber lookalike do
from yesterday, I think he looks a lot cuter with his short hair.

Mr. Jack's hair was a curly mess.
I think he is pretty dapper with his new look. Had to say goodbye
to those curls again, though. Sniff, sniff.

Jason has got his spikey, yet trendy hair style now.
He now claims it is a "no muss, no fuss" look.

Lest you think I didn't really do that much cutting, I give you PROOF of my handiwork.

That isn't even all of it. Add in the hair that we washed off
in the bath and all that was on the towels/chairs, and you can
see my boys have a LOT of hair.

**I'd like to thank Isaac for bathing each child after I finished cutting and my computer/Youtube for its wide array of videos to keep the boys occupied. I couldn't have done it without your help. ;-)

Conversations With 5 Year Olds

(Playing with an ambulance) Look, I'm rescuing a dog up in the tree.

Oh, really?

Yep. She's a little bit jealous. That's Spanish for "afraid."

~~~
I tell you everything is Spanish to them!
Monday Moments - Little Helper
Jack just had to help me with the laundry today. When he helps, though, he really gets into his work. Some might even say he dives right in!
Cute help like this is hard to find! :-)
Bouquet
I was about half way through with putting up the lights Friday when I overheard Isaac talking to Jason.
Isaac: Jason, what are you doing?
Jason: I'm making a bouquet to hold so I can marry mommy.
Me: That is so sweet, babe! But Jason, usually the girl holds the bouquet.
Jason: Oh. Okay.
He continued to make his bouquet and I moved on to another part of the house. Shortly thereafter, Jason came bounding around the corner.
Here you go, mommy! Here's your bouquet!
Thanks, Jay.
These smell so beautiful.
Now we can get married!
How can a girl say no to a proposal like that?
Isn't that the sweetest thing ever?!? Oh my goodness, I love these boys!
Cute Big Boy Saturday - Open Up and Say Ah!
Two kids + flashlight = creativity
Let's see here...
Yep. It looks like you've got a case of
"loose-gum-liosis." (His words exactly.)
Oh wow. I'm pretty sure the diagnosis sounds worse than it really is. At least I hope that's the case! ;-)
Christmas Lights
This afternoon, I put up the Christmas lights on the house. Jason and Shawn were pretty excited about this and wanted to help me. Of course, their kind of help ended up as them playing in the dirt while I did all the work, but they had fun. :-)
That sure is a lot of lights, mom. We have to put them all up?
Wow. That seems like work, but we're the right helpers for the job, mom.
Jason is helping mom try to figure out why the string of lights
wasn't completely lit.
Putting up the lights.
One string up, only two more to go!
What? Lights? What lights?
Oooh, look! Dirt! And a gate!
This is a whole lot better than doing whatever it is mom's doing.
This was a lot of hard work, mommy. Let's go inside now.
The best part was how excited they were to see them lit when we came home this evening. Love it!
Gratitude
Not too long ago, I wrote about what I am thankful for in my life. Today, I asked the boys to tell me what they are thankful for in their lives.
Shawn
Shawn is thankful for:
"Apple juice, Lightening McQueen, mommy, Jason, Jack, daddy, grandma, uncle Jeff, my toys, and um...my cars!"
Jason
Jason is thankful for:
"Mommy, cinnamon rolls, my spy glass, mommy's stinky slippers (I have no idea what's up with that), ice cubes, my cars, my toy dinosaur and tow truck, my name, my brothers, my grandma, and daddy, I think that's it."
Jack
Jack is thankful for: (list compiled by his brothers)
Tires, his teeth (because he likes to chew), and stuff to get (I think that means that he gets their stuff)
From our family to yours, we hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
A Little Black and White
We took some pictures last month. I really like them.
This is just a sneak peak. ;-)
