School Daze Part 3

School Daze Parts 1 and 2 are here and here.

After losing the last round with the district, Isaac and I regrouped. We came up with a few more questions for him to ask the enrollment people.

The family's secret weapon, Isaac, was on the job again. He made another visit to their office, where they again explained that we had to turn in the paperwork and follow the registration dates for our Local School, get into the system, and then follow the procedure to transfer to our Desired School. (Let me just point out that their policy of making us wait until Local School was scheduled to enroll technically put us at a disadvantage and could be seen punitive because of where we lived--i.e. the better/more expensive areas enroll first and the less expensive area we live in were later. Ahem.)

However, it did come to light that the lovely ladies of the district enrollment office were without tissues because of a late warehouse shipment. Isaac got the brainstorm to stop at the store for tissues and hot chocolate to bring back to their office as sort of a "Thank you for all of your hard work and help" gift. This time his update said:

"I told them that with enrollments about to start up, they might not always hear a 'Thank you' from the parents, so I wanted to be one of those that remembered. I told them to have a great rest of the day. And as I left, you could tell (that one of the clerks) actually noticeably blush red."

I know! He's brilliant, right?

Right after, they told him they'd take the transfer papers to hold our place.

Coincidence? I think not.

My husband's got mad money maker shaking skills, yo. ;)

It was such a HUGE weight off my chest - the district office let us turn in our intradistrict transfer papers before we actually enrolled so we'll stay at the top of the list for Desired School openings, which is what we wanted, while we still wait to enroll on the date they've assigned to Local School like they wanted. It is a fair compromise.

Another installment of School Daze is tomorrow...
