The idea of this, of course, was very exciting for the boys. Jason, in particular, told me several days in a row not to forget that his class's appointment at the Bizarre would be today. "Please?" he implored. "Can we take money to school so we can buy something?"
After some discussion, we decided that the boys would take money from their piggy banks for the Bizarre. And, in keeping with the holiday spirit of giving, they would only be able to purchase gifts for other people, not themselves. I sent them each to school with a budget of $5.00 to spend on each person on their list.
They were quite excited when they got home after school, and their backpacks were filled with individually wrapped gifts for each person on their lists. Shawn said he had fun picking out gifts for everyone. His aide was even funny enough to say that he was very "deliberate" about what he got for each person on his list. She hinted that she tried to maybe steer his selections to more traditional gifts, but he would not be swayed. lol. That is so much like our Shawn. He knows what he knows! I look forward to seeing what he picked out. I am probably going to have to wait until Christmas is today is any indication, because while he talked about going to the Bizarre and picking out presents, he would not say a peep about what he actually selected.
Jason, on the other hand, was bursting with the burden of keeping something from me, so he spilled his guts about two minutes after I walked in the house. lol. Once he had finished telling me all about it, I asked him if he thought it was pretty neat to have a budget and buy presents for us all on his own. "Yeah. That was fun," he said. "But really, the best part was getting some of my money back when they gave me change." How funny is that? Ha!
Oh, these boys!
