S: "Here, drink this tea."
M: slurp
S: "And this one"
M: slurp
S: "Drink one tea (slurp), two tea (slurp), three tea (slurp)...ten tea (slurp)"
S: "Are you full?"
M: "Yes, I'm very full."
S: "Now I'm going to throw a pie in your face."
M: "..."
He then laughed hysterically at his joke.

Jason was playing with his fire engine, flashing its lights and playing its siren. He pushed it over to where I was sitting on the couch.
J: Sigh. "I'm sorry I'm late. Do you need some help?"
M: "Yes, I'm stuck in a tree. Please help me get down."
J: "Here you go, ma'am." He pretended to extend his ladder up to the couch so I could climb down.
M: "Thank you, Mr. Fireman!"
J: "Your pleasure!"
It was such a grown up conversation until he got to that last line. It made me crack up!

While he isn't a 4 year old, Jack had a fun night of talking, too. He has this fascination with our blinds. No matter what I do, I can't seem to keep him away from them. Him always breaking the blinds when he pulls them off of the hooks is getting pretty old.
Tonight, he was at it yet again. Each time he'd make a reach, I'd give him a stern, "No, Jack." He'd stop and give me a high pitched response before he'd go back to reaching. (It's hard to describe the sounds he was making, as they weren't exactly words and still not exactly grunts either.)
We did this exchange a few times. His responses were always the same high pitch, but they continued to get longer each time.
After about 6-7 times, I distracted him to some other toys and the "conversation" stopped.
The more I've thought about it, the more I swear the boy was already talking back to his mother! I think I'm going to have to watch this one...
