Dioramas!

The boys got to make dioramas as part of their homework this week. They had to choose a story from their text book and create a diorama of one of the scenes from their selected story.

Shawn picked the story "Dragon Gets By" by Dav Pilkey for his project. Because Shawn has been all about Play-Doh lately, he created his main character dragon out of some!

Rolling Play-Doh balls for his head and body.

Add a little tail and some arms...

Every dragon needs some spikes down his spine.

He was quite pleased with the outcome. :)

The inside

Big Idea (house) - Dragon tried to get into the car but he ate too much.
Setting: the store
Main Character: Dragon
Favorite Event: When Dragon can't get the food in his car.

Jason, on the other hand, chose "Mrs. Brown Went to Town" by Wong Herbert Yee. Jason is into art, so he drew the parts of his diorama.

Jason started by drawing his emergency vehicles.

Blowing on the hot glue while he holds his pieces in place.

Two thumbs up so far!

Big Idea (house): Mrs. Brown went to town and got hurt.
Setting: on a farm, at a hospital
Main Characters: Mrs. Brown, a cow, two pigs, three ducks, and a yak
Favorite Event: When her bed crashes down and all the emergency services come to help.

This was a cute project. They both even had fun putting them together. Me, too, which is a plus! ;)
