I brought the elf into the living room and told the boys that he was here to help Santa. I explained that our elf will watch and report back to the big man in red about all of the things the boys do - both the nice and the naughty.
The first thing we had to do, I told them, was name him.
Aye yi yi. That was an undertaking that was more challenging than I expected. Here were some of our contender names:
Dinosaur Potato Pants
Smarty Pants
the Christmas Guy
Smarty Potato Pants
SueJen (which was said with the two names combined together. I asked what it meant, thinking he heard it on television or something. Apparently it means "squishy potato" to him.)
I finally threw out the name Roger in a desperate attempt to get them to decide on a workable name. They thought about that for a bit and countered with Roger Soup. Sigh.
After I banned all names that had to do with food, they finally settled on the name.
Roger Snow.
Now that is a name we can use for the next ten years without me cringing every time I have to say it! lol
After that, we watched this short little video from Youtube.
They seemed to be impressed that he flies to the North Pole every night and moves to a new spot to observe when he comes back here in the morning.
I'm impressed that this guy is going to take notes on what these boys are doing. I am never one to turn my nose up at another person who wants to help with crowd control of this group. Besides, I can already hear myself saying, "Watch out! Roger Snow is looking at you!" Heh, heh, heh.
Our elf will not be of the mischievous sort that you find on Pinterest. I can not imagine him having to think of new mischief to get into each night. Frankly, the elf will be doing good if he remembers to just move to a new spot. ;-)
I have to admit, though, that I am
