Back to the Grind

The boys started back to school today after their two week break. The only one who was excited was Jack. lol.

Today was spent getting back into the school online groove and talking about how things will be once in-person teaching starts at their schools next week. Our guys will continue online only, but because the boys' district didn't plan ahead, this will mean that their schedules will be turned upside down. Teachers will get the choice to teach both groups (online and in-person) concurrently OR teach to both groups - in-person in the mornings and online only in the afternoons.

What looks to be happening is that there will be a mixture of both happening. As of today, both the big boys will have at least 1 class in the mornings. I strongly suspect that more will follow.

As of now, Jack's class will be moved from the 9:00 am schedule he has been on to class at 12:30 pm.

This is going to get interesting.

This Didn't Go As Expected

Jack wanted to play in my make-up. This wasn't exactly how I expected it to go...

He thought it was pretty cool, though!

Friday Five

We blinked and sped through the boys' entire two week break. That realization brought a little sadness tonight. :(

The good news is that there is only 9 or 10 weeks left to the school year. I think we can make it!

~~~
Speaking of school, the boys all got their notices that they will remain on distance learning for the remainder of the schoolyear. That will bring changes to their schedules, so that is the one drawback. Rather than starting school at 9:00am like they had been, all of the boys will not start "live" teaching until 12:30. All of the independent asynchronous work is supposed to happen before then. I'm not sure how it will work in practice, but I do know we will all need to adjust to it.
~~~

Shawn was such a trooper for his dental appointment. Doctors in general make him very anxious, which is understandable in light of all that he's gone through in his lifetime. Still, he managed to charm everyone he saw that day despite his anxiety. We're so proud of him!

~~~
We were getting the backyard ready for planting this week. We are finally there!
Jason weeding where the corn will go.
This plant you see is the pepper plant from last year!
Jack is weeding where the flowers will go!
Isaac made these really cool flower beds for us to
plant in. We wanted to make them low enough to the ground
so everyone could get to them easily.
Shawn watered everything down for us
He is watering the lemon tree here
Mom and dad got new phones this week, so hopefully the picture quality will improve drastically now. I took a picture of Jason yesterday and we could see the pores on his face when we enlarged it a bit! Maybe now we won't have any more blurry pictures!
He's Grown a Little
These pictures were taken on his birthday, exactly 1 year apart. He's grown a little!
This also could be why his pants didn't fit last week! ;)
Dentist Visit for Shawn
Today was Shawn's big dental visit. He had some cavities to fill, so we opted to give him some gas to make the whole appointment easier on him.
Shawn after getting a little bit of happy juice.
He got quite loopy. He couldn't even remember
which brother was which after that. LOL
He was out for about an hour and a half while they worked on him. It took a LONG while for everything to work its way out of his system, so he spent the rest of the day like this.
His eyes popped open at about 8:30pm when I closed the blinds in his room. He couldn't figure out where the day had gone, and legit thought I had stolen it from him. lol.
He was back to his regular self by the next morning, though. :)
Camping Part 2
This trip was a short but sweet trip down to a KOA campsite relatively close to us. We once again went with renting a cabin because I'm not sure we are the kind of people who can do without a bathroom at our disposal. LOL.
We had loads of fun while we were there, too!
Roasting some marshmallows
and hanging out with dad.
Our iconic picture of Shawn. This is his first activity
no matter where we are. He LOVES to check out the bed.
He likes to lean back, put his hands behind his head, and chill. LOL
Jason, Jack, and dad rented a bike to ride around the campsite.
Meanwhile, Shawn and I strolled around the
site ourselves. (This is just before we headed out.)
The cabin had a loft area that was a favorite of Jack's.
Jack found the deep end and fell in love again.
He found he could hop along the bottom and move around
when he wasn't swimming. He was a fan of that for sure.
The jumping pillow was fun, too.
Snuggling with two of my boys one morning.
Jack and Jason went for a swim just before we left.
Their favorite part of the whole trip!
