Mostly Wordless Wednesday - Reader

I told him he needed to finish two books during spring break. Book one was finished on Sunday. (188 pages to be exact!) He's since started another book with a 6th grade reading level and is waiting to start his third book in the series he's been reading! Way to go, Jay!

I showed him this picture this afternoon. At first he thought it was Shawn, but then once he realize it was him, he couldn't figure out when I took the picture. "I must have been really reading my book!" he decided. Lol!

Never Dull With These Three!

We found a ladybug friend today. Of course we named him Charles. He rode around in a Matchbox car and crawled up and down the boys. (Although Jack wasn't a fan of it crawling on him. Lol) They wanted to keep him as a pet, but alas, Charlie flew away and broke their hearts.

Sigh. Jason did recover long enough to build a stick memorial for his friend. There's that. Lol

We've been working in the backyard the last few days. During a break, I found Jack like this...

Apparently he is identifying with his country roots now. :)

During our time outside, Shawn has been concerned with one thing and one thing only: watering the plants. When I finally gave him the bucket and told him to have at it, this was the look he gave me...

Excited much?! Lol! He then proceeded to soak just about anything that might remotely be living, including himself. He loved every minute of it, too!

Ah...spring break is the life I tell you!

Child Labor

We went out to work in the back yard today.

Put everyone to work, too! (Although this is the only picture I managed to snap of the work.)

Cute Big Boy Saturday

I flipped Shawn over my shoulder. His response? "Look! I'm flying!"

Friday Five - The April Fool's Edition

Before heading to bed last night, Jason made sure to remind me that today is April Fool's Day. "Work on your pranks, mom." he said.

So work on my pranks I did!

1. The bed switch-a-roo:

It occurs to me that you can't tell who is who here, but trust me when I tell you that we switched them to the other's bed last night. I even switched their glasses on the dresser.

The funniest thing to me is that I could never get them to say that they were switched. They would only say that their brother was switched, I guess not realizing that for brother to be switched, they both had to be switched. Too funny.

When I got up this morning, Shawn was already up and Jason was back in his own bed. BUT, they wore the wrong glasses (because I had switched them, too) for a long before they realized it. Ha!

2. Mustaches

They liked this one so much last year, I decided to do it again this year. I also drew circles around their eyes, but they decidedly did NOT like that. lol. I'm glad you can still see some of the remnants of the circles around their eyes in the pictures.

3, Something under the cup...

I left this cup and note on the table this morning and went off to work. Inside was an open paper clip I'd attached to the cup. It was positioned so that every time he moved the cup, he'd hear something scratching the inside.

Isaac wrote me the following text:

"Well, Jason found the cup.  He read the note.  And came flying to me. Dad! Dad! There's a cup with a note that says...(he read the note)
Me- Well, are you ready?
Jason-uh, I'm not sure.  I'm really nervous about it. (With a flutter of nervousness in his voice)
Me-Then leave it alone until you're ready.
Jason-I have to come up with a plan. (After a while) I've got it! I've got a plan.)
Me-Good luck! We're all counting on you.
It took a few tries to actually work up the nerve. I kept hearing the sound of the cup being shaken quickly while still flat on the table.  I could hear the rattling noise inside the cup. Finally, he comes back and says I did it!, but that there was nothing in the cup but a paper clip and string.
Me-Was that a good prank?
Jason-YES!"

What was his plan, you ask?

"Me-Hey Jason what was your plan?
Jason-well I was going to smash it with the chair leg.
Me-did you have the chair on the table?
Jason-uh no, I was going to wait for it to scurry onto the floor and then smash it with the chair leg. As he's saying it, he had a look of confusion like that probably wasn't going to work too well. Then he says, I don't know, I didn't think that part out so well."

LOL!!

4. Chocolates or not?

I wrapped some grapes in some recycled chocolate egg wrappers.

Jason was not a fan. LOL

Shawn was, though!

5. Screen shot hijynx.

I took a screen shot of the home screen on the ipad and left it so that would be the first thing that they'd encounter when they opened up the ipad.

Jason was quite frustrated when he couldn't get the apps to open or the screen to slide. :)

~~~
I also stuffed some tissue into their shoes, but we stayed inside today and they haven't worn shoes yet. That will be tomorrow's surprise!
~~~

All in all, it was a fun day!

Conversations With 8 Year Olds

Said yesterday:

Him: "Mom, how about if we pretend I'm Jack today? Yeah, let's do that."

Me: "Are you trying to get Jack's presents?"

Him: "Well...if I'm Jack..."

Lol!
