Conversations With 7 Year Olds

He found a snack sized sandwich bag and blew in it...

Him: It's a bag of air! Look, mom, a bag of air.

Me: Oh wow. What are you going to do with a bag of air?

Him: I dunno. Collect it? I'm going to need a lot more baggies if I'm going to collect air.

Me: Why would you want to collect air?

Him: I collect things, mom. That's what I do.

~~~
So there you go. I imagine it makes perfect sense inside that head of his. ;)
Sunday, No, Monday Smile!
A sweet and tart one at that. :)
Ha! It just occurred to me that today is Monday and not Sunday. See what a holiday does to your head? Lol! Make this post "Monday Smiles!" ;)
Jack's First Professional Cut!
This weekend, Isaac took Jack to go have his first professional haircut.
He definitely wasn't too sure about the whole thing, but he did just fine.
He definitely wasn't sure about the clippers.
But he rolled with it and did what the stylist wanted.
"Good grief, is she finished yet?"
While he may not have liked the process, he was quite pleased with the outcome.
Can't you almost here him clicking his tongue before saying, "How you doin'?"
He cleaned up pretty well!
He even did some posing with his new look.
I guess you can't call this trip anything other than a success. :)
The Fruits and Veggies of Our Labor!
Today was a momentous day. We finally got to see the fruit (and veggies) of our gardening labor! We finally got to pick some of what we planted!
Shawn picked some green beans.
Filling up the tub with his haul!
Then he set to watering the tomato plants while Jason had his turn.
Jay got right to work picking beans, too!
He was pretty proud of all the beans he picked, too!
Just look at all of them! They were tasty, too!
Go us! We may be city folks, but we didn't too bad as gardeners, if I do say so myself! :)
Friday Five
Oh three day weekend, we are all excited to see you! On the agenda? Rest and relaxation. Can't beat that!
~~~

I take that back. The only thing we have planned is to get the boys' hair cut. Picture day is on Tursday, so we need to get all handsomed up for the big day.

(Any bets on how picture day will go this year? We have such a great track record with school pictures. Lol)

~~~
Jason has decided it is time to learn to play chess, and he wants daddy to teach him how to play.
How could I resist helping him with a goal like that?
The set has been ordered. It comes tomorrow. This should be interesting. :)
~~~

The boys' teacher gives them daily math practice drills. They get something like three minutes to do as many problems as they can. The teacher grades what they've done and ignores whatever was not finished, which is a good thing because neither boy has yet to complete all 100 questions.

That is, no one finished it until today.

Today, Shawn completed his entire 100 question math sheet in the time allotted, AND he got a 100%. So proud of him!

He is doing so well this year! Way to go, kiddo!

~~~
Jack has decided he is destined to be a star on the stage, and to him, ALL the world is a stage. He'll even tell you he wants to be an "oc-tor." (Yes, that's "actor" said with a British accent. Because of course!) It's pretty cute.
And who knows? Maybe being on the stage really is in his future. :)
