Flashback Friday

I really think that Jack is working on more teeth. He is drooling like crazy, his cheeks are flushed right around where his back teeth are, and he is chewing on everything he can--all classic signs for him. For those of you keeping track, you know he already has all of his teeth except his two year molars. Doctor Google (Oh how handy you are, my dear Google) has informed me that it is indeed possible to get your two year molars before you are even a year and a half...especially if you teethed early, like Mr. Jack.

Apparently two of these Lopez boys like to do things early when it comes to teeth.

~~

I had decided that today would be a Flashback Friday post mostly because it is Friday, and we are still getting used to the whole back to school routine.

Then, I knew it had to be a Flashback Friday when I saw what was going on in our lives on these very days in 2008.

Post #1 from August 23, 2008:

One Word

Miserable.

Jason is just miserable.

We went to the pediatrician yesterday, where I was given an explanation for his grumpiness. The boy is teething. Not one. Not two. Not even three teeth. The poor thing is swollen in FIVE different places. It really started to get bad last night. One of his canine teeth has broken through the gums, his two front teeth are going to break through at any moment (I think one might have already, but I don't want to swear on it), and he is swollen for two more canines. Yikes.

Today he has been feeling horrible. He didn't even want to jump in his jumper! That tells me it is pretty bad. He's been getting Tylenol regularly and baby Oragel. Other than that, there just isn't much more I can do but love on him. (and yes, I do quite a bit of that)

He doesn't want to eat, he sleeps fitfully, and cries big boo hoo tears. It's been like that since around 11 last night.

Right now, he is sleeping quietly in his swing. This is practically the first time he's let me put him down all night and day.

Little Shawn Bon isn't liking that his brother is hogging all of the attention. Plus, he is gnawing on his hand much more than usual. It looks like Shawn is trying to jump on this teething train, too. Hopefully his bottom teeth will finally come in soon. If not, he is going to chew his hand right off!

Other than all of the teething stuff, things have been quiet around here. Just how we like it.

Three Down...

only two to go!

Jason now has 5 teeth.

Shawn still has 0.

I think we are through the worst part of this round of teething. (knock on everything wood around you, please. knock HARD!) He is starting to eat again, and is smiling a little more. Yea. I hope the other two break through soon.

----------

School started today. I survived. My mom survived. The boys survived. All in all, it was a good day!

----------

Lastly, here is the thing you come around for most--pictures! I took these last week (pre-teething).

It feels a bit like our lives have been in this state of perpetual teething!

I don't know about you, but I think it is SO cool that I can go back and see a snapshot of our lives at any given time! I am thankful for this blog!

Kidbits: Our Life in a Series of Face Book Updates... Part 18

The baby just said "shit" or "sit", I'm not sure which. I think I'll just go with "sit." lol

We just marked another thing off of our bucket list! We just saw a shooting star! Ok, fine. Everyone else might argue that it was an "airplane" but it was a shooting star to our little people! ;)
We had a fantastic time picking berries at Underwood Farm today. The boys thought it was awesome and ate until they were ready to explode.

I think I was just fired as my kids' hair cutter. I was asked by Jason if someone else can do it from now on. Looks like we'll be visiting the barber tomorrow. :)

Quiet time hasn't been so quiet today. Apparently they want to sleep together. I told them that was fine. Since then it has been a questions such as, "Can I sleep with him for 10 minutes?" Yes

"Can I sleep with him for this long (holding his arms out)?" Yes
"How about this long (holding his arms out wider)?" Yes
"This long (holding his arms out as long as they can stretch)?" Yes
"Can I sleep with him for a hundred minutes?" Yes

...it went on and on and on...

YES. Sleep together! Sleep together for as long as you want already! Almost as soon as I said that, the timer went off and they were able to get up. Sigh.

Monday Moments - The Sprinkler

I had to shelve the pool. It seems that Jack put a hole in it while he was chewing on it the other day. Sigh.

I didn't let that deter us from playing outside, however! Instead of the pool, the trio played outside in the sprinkler.

It was so much fun!

Sunday Six

Six moments I want to remember from the week:

  1. On Thursday, I went in to get Jack out of bed and found him like this.

I think we can safely say the boy has reached the undressing milestone!

  2. Jack has started his own version of a hunger strike. He doesn't want to go without food, mind you, be he is pretty picky about what he'll put in his mouth. Rather than throwing the food on the floor, he's decided that it's much cuter to feed what he doesn't want to me. Of course I had to let him do it, too. It was too cute to stop! (Yes, I'm a sucker. Sigh.)

  3. Jason has pretty amazing articulation for a 4 year old. That's why I LOVE that he says, "bee mem ber" for the word "remember." It makes me smile every time I hear it.

  4. I asked Jason to do something for me while I went to change Jack's diaper. When I came back, he was sprawled out on the floor. "Mom," he said, "I'm stumped. I think I'm too little to do that." How do you argue with that?

  5. Shawn is our dancer. He loves music and loves to dance to just about whatever he hears. The music could be as long as a song or as short as a few seconds on a commercial. Music still needs to be danced to according to him. He also loves for mommy and daddy to dance, too.

  6. The boys were watching Sprout TV earlier and listening to a Gerber Life commercial for saving for college. When the commercial ended, Shawn added, "I wanna go to college." Looks like we need to keep adding to that college fund! :o)
