Ode to the Spoon

by: Daddy
For: Shawn & Jason

First came the bottle,
We’ve mastered that
Then finger foods,
That squish and splat
A straw was next,
We “sucked” at that
The bowl would fly,
And hit the mat

Now one more trick,
Left in our hat...

With empty Spoons,
Our two boys sat
They stared at us,
We stared right back
They drummed the tray
With a Rat-a-tat-tat
So far, so good,
Imagine that

Will the plan work?
Or go kerplat...

Stop stalling already,
No time for that
Let’s get the food,
Let’s get it stat
We’ll start real small,
See where we’re at
A tiny bite,
A paltry pat

What could possibly happen?
WHO said that?...

They each took turns,
Sort of tit-for-tat
They flung it this way,
And flung it that
But it seemed to me,
When the last pat went splat
The only one eating,
Was the cat

What can you do?,
We had to laugh...

With messy faces,
Our two boys sat
They stared at us,
We stared right back
So they don’t exactly,
Have it down pat
Just one more thing,
We’ll keep working at

And that, as they say,
Is that.

Teamwork...

...or how to get out of eating your green beans.

Getting So Big!

Us tonight just before bed. Can you believe how big they are getting? Time sure does fly by in a flash. :-)

It's Been Awhile...

I want to start by extending a big, hearty thank you to Kathy Jo for all she did for the March For Babies walk. Thank you, too, to everyone who supported her. With your help, Kathy Jo was able to raise $250 for this wonderful cause, and we are very proud of her! Stop by her blog to read all about it and see all the fun pictures. :-)

---

It has come to my attention that I've been slacking with the blog as of late. I can't believe it has been over two weeks since I last posted. Oops. Time has a way of slipping through my fingers lately. I am working on a few updates to post throughout the week, but I haven't quite finished them. So, while you wait, I leave you with a few pictures of the dynamic duo from tonight...

A quick photo session before bed.

No, no, no...don't tickle me!

Mom, he's so silly!

You crack me up!

Finally, he's gone. Now I can focus on my one true love...

Oh, how lovely you are, dear remote. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

Perfect Moment

My Perfect Moment...

Sharing my first Mother's Day with my little Shawn. Last year he was lying in a hospital bed while Isaac helplessly watched, fighting off an infection. (Jason and I spent my first Mother's Day alone.)

But this year?

This year Shawn was in my arms.

And I loved every moment of it. :-)

Top Ten Reasons I Love Having Twins

  1. Shawn. Jason. 'Nuff said.

  2. There is always someone to snuggle and kiss.

  3. When one kid won't eat something, chances are high that the other will.

  4. One baby at a time is boring to us over achievers.

  5. They love to make each other laugh. I love to hear it.

  6. Twice the cuteness. (I try not to think about those times when we have twice the crankiness.)

  7. Twice as many things to celebrate, which leads to twice as many pictures.

  8. I get to hear "Hi!" in surround sound.

  9. When I have trouble deciding between two cute outfits, I don't have to feel guilty when I get to buy them both!

  10. Isaac and I never have to share--we each get to hold and snuggle a baby--at the same time!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

It's Official!

It's official. I am a pretty darn good mom. CNNBC doesn't lie! Click here to see what I am talking about! :-)

Oh, and for those of you who wonder how I raise twins and still find time to work, grade, AND blog, it is because I "selflessly contribute 52 hours of every day to people other than myself." And you know what? Sometimes it sure does feel that way!
