Friday Five

Another week of school completed. With this week, our county was downgraded from Tier 1 outbreak (most severe) to Tier 2. With this change, the county is allowing more businesses to open, including schools if the districts apply for it. Both the boys' district and my district are located in the city that has the highest level of COVID infections in the county, so while the county as a whole may be ready to open schools, it is still questionable on whether our own city is ready for such a move. We were all relieved when the boys' district sent out an announcement today that they will not be initiating reopening at this time due to these high levels of cases in our area. My own district has hinted at the same.

I'm excited that we have family pictures on the horizon! We have a date for pictures set for the 30th. Can't wait. This crew has grown SO MUCH over the last few months. It's like we're living with men now!

~~~
Speaking of the end of the month, we also have a big celebration to think about. The dynamic duo will be THIRTEEN this year. Can you believe that?! So amazing! While we won't be able to celebrate in a way that we normally might, we will definitely try to think of a way to celebrate that makes their day special. :)
The days that lead to the big guys' birthday are always a bit emotional for me. Tomorrow is the anniversary of Jason's water breaking at 26 weeks pregnant. Its hard not to remember the fear we felt when we listened to the NICU doctor discuss all of the potential problems the boys would face if they were born then. Thankfully, they held strong for another 17 precious days! They truly are our little miracles!
~~~

I'm finding that work for me has been so crazy, I've fallen behind on updating the blog. That has never really happened before. I keep telling myself that when the second quarter comes at the end of the month, things will get a lot easier (all of my lessons will be done!). I sure hope so!

Conversations With 12 Year Olds

Me: Which do you like better, Shawn? Learning at school or learning at home?

Shawn: Um...home.

Me: What do you like about it?

Shawn: I get to stay home and dad helps me. I also like Mr. Miller's geography class.

Me: Why do like staying home?

Shawn: I get to take breaks...

Me: That is fun. You're right.

Shawn: Do you want to go back to school then?

Me: Sometimes. I like being home, though.

Online learning is showing us a different side to this guy. It isn't perfect, but we are seeing him thrive in class in a way he hasn't had the chance to before. It's exciting to watch.

Upside Down

Jack, in an excited voice: "I'm going to turn the whole world upside down!"

Me, per usual lately: "Huh? What do you mean?"

Me: "Ah. Should have known!"
