This guy got recognized today for reading TWO million TWO hundred and SEVEN thousand words! To put that into perspective, that is somewhere around 8,828 full pages of text!

Happy Homecoming Day, Jason!

On this day, 10 years ago, our Jason finally came home after 100 days in the hospital!

It's a day that is very important to us, and we will continue to celebrate for as long as the boys will let us!

Jason woke up to some decorations on his door.

He got to pick what we had for dinner (hamburgers).

Then we sang "Happy Homecoming Day to You!" and watched as he blew out his candle.

He was so excited to get a new game for his XBox and a CD. :)

He finished the day with a video game marathon with his dad. Happy Homecoming Day, Jason! Hope you had a fantastic day!

Spelling Bee - Day 3

Today was the final round of the school Spelling Bee. Jason did an AMAZING job today! He was given some pretty challenging words today, and he powered through like the champ he is.

They were not messing around with the words today. Jason was given "premonition," "parenthetical," and "subterranean." In the end, the winning word came down to the luck of the draw, but sadly this time luck wasn't on our side. 

What matters is how proud we are of Jason! He conquered his nerves and made this whole spelling bee thing look like a piece of cake. 

Way to go, Jay!

Spelling Bee - Day 2

Today was the continuation of Jason's Spelling Bee! There was heavy competition - 14 spellers were still in the running at the end of yesterday.

He was ready for it today!

 The next three rounds eliminated most of the other spellers. They were now down to the final 3!

Jason successfully spelled "energetic" "defensiveness" and "marmalade."
(And yes, I just misspelled "defensiveness!")

The next 9 rounds were drama filled and intense. There was an appeal to an elimination put forth, which was denied. There was also audience misconduct at play!

The whole room was sweating it out through it all!

Round 4: chimpanzee ✔️
Round 5: commendable ✔️
Round 6: incessant ✔️
Round 7: ricochet ❌ (his opponent had "truculent" ❌)
Round 8: entrepreneur ❌ (his opponent had "merengue" ❌)
Round 9: malign ❌ (his opponent had anecdote ❌)
Round 10: mandible ✔️ (his opponent had "dragoons" ✔️)
Round 11: Burroughs (he spelled it burrows) ❌  (his opponent had "taxidermy"❌)
Round 12: (his opponent had "propaganda" ❌) Conundrum ✔️

Jason's championship word: piteously ❌

And that is when they ran out of time. They're up again tomorrow-same time, same place!
