Harry Potter Times

For the last several days...weeks?...months?...Jason has been walking around the house humming the theme to Harry Potter. It makes me smile to think that his interest in the story has blossomed. (We are now half way through book 2!)

Shawn has also been humming the theme to Harry Potter lately, although his motives are a little more suspect. Shawn's goal is to annoy the crap out of Jay by changing the tune just enough to be slightly off. Jason does not like it one bit, which is exactly why Shawn does it. Again I smile, because really? Nothing says love more than doing whatever you can to pester your brother. ;)

Brussels Sprouts

He has been begging for Brussels sprouts for the longest time. Today, he finally got some. He was so happy! Lol

He tried several bites, although he didn't eat a lot. He said it tastes like calliflower. Lol!

The Boys' Best Day!

Today, the big boys got to have an amazing adventure! Thanks to The Best Day Foundation, they both got the chance to surf, ride on a outrigger, and even kayak! They had a blast!

We took MANY pictures today, but these are a few of my favorites:

Jason riding a wave for the first time!
He was SO proud of himself!

Jay in the kayak!
Jason and his buddy, Ashok

Jason on the outrigger

Shawn getting used to the water with his buddy, Chris.

Getting ready to head out of the outrigger. He thought it was fun, but
he was not a fan of them lifting it and carrying it into the water. lol

He was all smiles!

Shawn hanging out with is awesome buddy!

Jason sporting his new medal!

Such a fantastic day!

Friday Five

The boys are doing some great things at school. We got word that our Mr. Jack is the second best reader in his class, and already knows 13 of the 16 sight words he has to know for the entire year! How awesome is that? Not to be outdone, Jason let us know that he is now reading books in the 4.4-7.5 reading level range! Fantastic! And our Shawnie? He has been having one great day after another at school! Way to go, boys!

~~~
Tomorrow is the big day for the big boys! They get to go surfing for the first time! I am really excited for them. :) Fingers crossed they all wake up feeling good. (We have another round of germs hitting us at the moment. Currently, both Jack and I are the first victims.)
~~~

It's Halloween costume decision time around these parts. So far, Jack has decided I should be a princess, and Isaac should be a king. I'm think he made a good choice with the princess one, nut I'm not so sure about the whole king thing. lol.

Today, he said he wants to be a ghost. Shawn wants to be a pumpkin, and Jay wants to be Harry Potter. We shall see if these ideas hold until the end of October. Something tells me that they won't. lol

~~~
Jack loves, loves, LOVES Banana Nut Cheerios. In fact, that is the only cereal he'd eat. You can imagine, then, how sad we all were to learn that Banana Nut Cheerios have been discontinued. I could purchase a few boxes on Amazon for an ungodly amount, but I'm not willing. We've tried replacing his favorite with a few others, with no luck.
So Isaac took him to go pick out a new kind. We weren't sure what he'd go for (and we have no idea whether he'll actually eat it when he gets it). After much deliberation, he settled for Fruit Loops. It kind of cracks me up that he chose that brand. I can remember loving Fruit Loops when I was younger!
~~~

The boys thought tonight's comment about them being my "gaseous trio" was the funniest thing I've said in like forever. They laughed and laughed for the longest time. And then acted out their namesake to even more hysteria. All I could say as I walked away? "Boys are gross." Cue more hysteria. LOL

Conversations With 8 Year Olds

"I wish I was younger, like Jack, so I didn't have to worry about so many things."
