Conversations With 7 Year Olds

After telling someone more than once to go to bed...

"Why are you so mean? You are VERY mean. No, you are a HUNDRED PERCENTAGE mean!"

It was complete with an exasperated sigh and a storming off to his room.

Isn't it a little early for the preteen drama? Lol.

Big Day

Today was the boys' first day back at school after vacation. Both boys had good days back at school.

Today we got serious about completely potty training Jack. Until now, we've been really laid back about it, having him go mostly only when he intiated it. The goal is to have him be fully rained by the end of the week. (May this be a fast process, please!)

Today the big boys had their biannual eye exams, too.

Both boys got new scripts for glasses. Shawn's script change is because of  a stigmatism in his right eye; Jason is going to get glasses again to have when his eyes are feeling tired or for when he's feeling eye strain, so they don't need to be worn all the time.

Both boys had their eyes dilated, which is always fun. Shawn did much better with this process than Jay. :) They flipped roles for the actual exam with Jason doing much better than Shawn for that process. Lol. The way these two tag team each other kind of cracks me up.

Sea World - A Picture Post of Our Trip

We headed out Wednesday afternoon.

We started with a little fine dining. :)

Jay claimed the sofa for himself.

Shawn decided he was going to sleep with mommy--and loved every moment.

This was Jack at 11:00 pm. He had mounds of energy
the entire trip!
Thursday was our day at Sea World.

Jay pet some sharks.

Jack did, too, but he was a little too rough.

Jay grabbed Jack's hand and showed him what to do, though.

We read every single sign we passed.

The dolphins were a hit with all of the boys!

A little girl fell in love with Jason. She and her poor mom
followed us around for the longest time. lol

We pet some stingrays, too.

We even got to feed the rays some fish.

The rays sucked the fish up like little vacuums. It was odd.

We watched a show.

Shawn thought it was okay. (It was kind of hokey.)

Shawn was fascinated in the sea turtle exhibit. He thought it
was fun to try to count all the fish. lol

We did play in the water pad a bit.

Although it just didn't go over as well as it had in the past.

Jack loved the roller coasters.

And would have rode them all day if he could have.

He also played a little "Wack-a-Mole,"

Jay and I enjoyed a yummy funnel cake, too!
After Sea World, we went back to the hotel and spent some time in the hot tub. It was so nice. The big boys were worn out at the end of the day!

It's so funny that they are sleeping in the same position.

They never sleep together, so this was pretty neat to see.
Jack, on the other hand, had the same energy level he had the night before...no sleeping pictures of him to be found. :)

We headed home after breakfast Friday morning. All in all it was a fun trip!

Cute Big Boy Saturday

Played outside today...

Shawn before he was covered in dirt. :)

Jason preferred mud today. At least he managed to keep it localized to his hands and knees rather than get it everywhere!

Jack pretended to dye "Easter eggs" aka lemons. Lol

Friday Five - Trip Edition

I had told the boys that we would do something fun each day of their last week of vacation. Today marks the last day of the boys' spring break, and I think they would say we've done just that. We even ended their vacation with a short family trip to Sea World!

The boys go back to school on Monday. It definitely didn't seem like they were off for two weeks! When they return, there will only be 49 days of school left for them. Wow.

~~~
The highlight for Shawn on the trip was eating at a restaurant. The highlight for Jason was that fish in the touch pools nibbled on his fingernails. The highlight for Jack was his discovery of roller coasters. Isaac's highlights were watching the boys' excitement and laughter at the touch tanks and swimming together in the hot tub. :)
~~~

I liked all of that too...

But this was my highlight. I LOVE caricatures of my boys! Besides, you have to admit that this is just pretty awesome.

~~~
We were pleasantly surprised at how well the boys did on the trip, especially our wild boy, Jack. It was the first big trip without the stroller, and although he is known for running in the direction opposite of the rest of us, Jack was great at holding our hands and walking WITH us while we were at the park. It was wonderful.
~~~

Scenes like this are what remind you that you vacationed hard in a good way. :)

Shawn was the only man standing on the car ride home. :)

Mostly Wordless Wednesday - It's Raining!

Jack got to spend a little time playing in the rain yesterday for the first time...

 He thought it was the best thing ever!
