Life By the Numbers - Our Summer Vacation

Let's break this summer down by the numbers...

30 - days I've been out on summer vacation
4 - weeks of freedom!
38 - days until the big boys start school (Yikes!)
6 - days later, my summer vacation is over, too. (Boo.)
13 - appointments we've had since I've been home (therapy, swimming, and various Dr. appointments)
15 - more appointments to go before school starts
2.42 - the average number of days between each appointment this summer
1.9 - the average number of days between appointments when you don't factor in the weekends (no wonder we're so worn out!)
11 - things on our Summer Bucket List completed so far:
2 - different crafts finished (more to come)
1 - treasure hunt taken (pictures to come)
5 - swimming sessions (6 more to go!)
10+ - days playing in the backyard
7 - trips to the park (1 of which was brand new to us)
1 - night of fireworks
1 - day spent picking strawberries
1 - attempt at flying kites
Many - visits with friends and family
5 - things we have as definite must do's from the Summer Bucket List
5 - things from the Bucket list are likely :)
300+ - pictures taken thus far
At least 300+ - pictures to be taken
1 - trip to Sea World planned
2 - nights in a hotel
Countless - hours of craziness, madness, and fun! (Countless hours of annoying our brothers, arguing, and driving mom crazy, too. Ahem.)

Shawn's favorite thing from today was playing outside.

Jason's favorite thing from today was playing Snail Bob on the IPad. ("I like it when he gets electrocuted!")

Cute Big Boy Saturday - Beamz

At school yesterday, Jason got the chance to play the Beamz. Beamz is an "interactive music revolution (which) enables anyone to experience the joy and fun of making music by touching laser beams and playing light." He loved it!

Sitting in front of the Beamz monitor while he waits to start.
(The instrument reminds me of an updated version of the theremin.)
The sound on this is kind of hard to hear, but here he is playing.

He was playing weather sounds (rain and thunder). I love watching his fingers wiggle as he plays. :)

Pretty cool, huh?

~~~
Both boys said their favorite thing today was the visit from Tio Mario and Tia Stasi.
Friday Fun
The boys had lots of fun finger painting today!
Everybody working on their painting
Jack trying his red paint
Shawn dug right in, of course.
Look. At. Those. Arms.
Sigh
Jack's first taste of finger paint.
He was not a fan.
Painting with the squeegee tool.
Jason was trying to blend colors.
It didn't exactly work out well on the paper we were using.
Jay's using his tools to stamp stars around his painting.
Still not a fan of the taste. He had to power
through it to suck his thumb, though.
My little dirty guy.
~~~

Both Shawn and Jason thought that finger painting was the best thing from today. :)

Thursday Snippets

In every story, there are moments that that never make it off the editing room floor. We take lots of pictures of our guys and we have a lot of fun moments, but it's hard to find ways to incorporate all of them in the blog. In other words, those small moments are "edited out" and often forgotten.

I've decided that on occasion, I'll post some of these random snippets from our lives in what I'll call "Snippets" because these small moments are just as important to remember as the bigger ones.

Here are a few Snippets from the last few weeks:
A flower for mommy

Little feet that are swiftly becoming not so little anymore

What Jason thinks of cleaning up after himself.

Some snuggles while wrestling

Mommy and Jack

BUBBLES!!! POP!!!

No you can't pull out my incredibly loose tooth.

The big boys playing with mommy's gadgets.

Swinging Shawn around at the park

Peek a boo!

Chillin at the bottom of the slide

Just call him Captain Jack!

Shawn's locked behind the play gym bars

Dirt, glorious dirt.

I love dirt, mommy!

Shawn's favorite thing from today was playing IPad with daddy.

Jason's favorite thing from today was eating chocolate cake for dessert. (It is good cake!)

Mostly Wordless Wonder - Note

The note left for us on the fridge while we were making dinner.

"100 is the big ist (biggest) numbr"

It definitely is a big number. :) He didn't do too shabby of a job writing it out, either.

~~~
Shawn's favorite thing from the day was going to grandma's house and talking to his uncle Jeff on the phone.
Jason's favorite thing from the day was working on his "cruise ship" at grandma's.
Monday Moments - More Time at the Pool
The boys are seriously loving going swimming this summer. They are always very excited and look forward to going all week long.
Today, Shawn was swimming with the noodle all by himself. He was SO proud of himself!
Look, mom! I'm doing it!
(I LOVE how he beamed the whole time.)
It was pretty funny because at first he didn't realize he was on his own. He sort of freaked out a bit when his teacher told him she wasn't holding him. It wasn't long, though, before he was telling everyone there to look at him swimming. :)
At the pool there is a cold water faucet near the edge. His teacher connected a water noodle to hit and made a "fire hose" contraption. Jason thought it was the coolest thing.
Look at the hose, Shawn!
Of course, you know what came next, right?
Take that, Shawn!
Poor unsuspecting Shawn didn't have a clue he was about to get a face full of water. (For that matter, the teachers didn't know Shawn was about to get a face full of water, either. That put an end to the fire hose fun. lol)
~~~

Shawn's favorite thing from the day was swimming with Beth.

Jason's favorite thing of the day was playing games with grandma.
