And So It Begins...
...the countdown to the day the boys were born.
Two years ago today, Jason's* water broke. I was exactly 26 weeks pregnant.
Can you believe in a mere 17 days the boys will be the big T-W-O?
*To clarify, Baby A's water broke. Jason was baby B when born, but, I KNOW it was Jason's sac that ruptured. I think Shawn was just too excited to get out of that place that he jumped the line to become Baby A at birth. :-)

Shawn--Our Mr. Sensitive
Shawn's favorite book right now is a picture book full of babies. The pages each show a baby's face showing different emotions like pouting, angry, happy, and sad. Every night just before dinner, Shawn looks at his book while I (or usually Isaac) make dinner.
Recently, Shawn has started to gravitate to one particular set of pages--the happy and sad pages. He will ask me over and over again what the picture on each page is, and over and over again I say either "Happy!" or "Sad."
The other night, Shawn added a new twist to our little nightly ritual. He has now started to be more sympathetic toward the baby on the "sad" page. The baby is crying, so together we try to wipe away the baby's tears and tell him it will be okay. Now when I say "Sad," Shawn will cover his mouth with his hand and starts to whine/cry. He'll do that until I divert his attention to the "happy" page. Back and forth we go, and the cry comes and goes nearly every single time.
Finally, we caught a glimpse of what it is like. It cracks me up to no end. My little guy is Mr. Sensitive!

Our First Cause--Relay for Life
Three weekends ago, the boys participated in their first cause, the local Relay for Life!
For those of you who don't know what this is, at Relay, teams of people camp out at the local high school and take turns walking (or running I suppose, but that sounds like crazy talk) around the track. The goal of our team, Sole Patrol, is to have a member on the track at all times during the 24 hour event.
The dynamic duo is always a pair to lend their help to a good cause, and they insisted we continue the tradition started before they were born. I have to tell you that they begged and pleaded to stay the whole twenty-four hours. They tried all they could to get me to agree, even enticing me with promises of a future of doctors and lawyers, but I held firm that it wouldn't be a good idea. They were sad, of course, and I am pretty sure that Shawn called me a party pooper. Well, maybe it was just pooper. Whatever, boys, your mommy is too old for adventures like that now-a-days. :-)
Anyway, we headed to the event just after a nice long nap. I figured that they'd be in a good enough mood that we'd be able to stay at the event for about an hour before a melt down occurred. I was so wrong. An hour wasn't long enough for our boys. They talked me into hanging out with the gang for a full three and a half hours!
They worked their charm on my co-workers.
They chatted and told everyone, "Hi!"
They grooved to the music.
They ate donuts.
They let everyone hold them and gave out hugs. (which I am so relieved about--this was the first time many of the girls from work had the chance to meet the boys. They haven't said it, but I think some of them were starting to think the boys only lived on my computer!)
Jason had a fantastic time walking the track with Debbie, Judy's daughter, who I have since dubbed the "Baby Whisperer."
Jason even managed to do a little track walking...er, um crawling...himself!
They absolutely loved it! Frankly, I think they were more than a little disappointed when we left. (and I swear I heard something that sounded a lot like 'pooper' whispered under someone's breath on the way home, although I am not completely sure)
The only consolation I could give them was to promise that we'd do it all again next year. :-)
So thank you to Veronica and Judy, our fearless team captains, and everyone else we got the chance to hang out with that day. We had a really great time!

Evidence of Jason and His Love
Beyonce.
This was Jason yesterday while Isaac and Shawn were out getting pizza. I've captured a small taste of how truly hilarious it is when the boys are watching their favorite woman! All you have to do to picture the full scene is to imagine two sets of hands grabbing at the keyboard while two heads bob. :-)

Television
...oh how we love thee.
The boys have discovered the Noggin channel. (Don't judge, a woman needs to pee without fearing that the house will be turned upside down every now and then.) They watch two shows and love them both--"Yo Gabba Gabba!" and "Little Bill."
"Yo Gabba Gabba!" drives me crazy. I have to remind myself that I am not the intended audience over and over while it's on, but the boys like it, so watch it I (we) do, every single day.
On the other hand, I actually don't mind watching "Little Bill." It is a cute show and doesn't make things silly just to grab the kids' attention. Jason in particular likes the intro to the show...
I don't know where he got his rythym. :-) Did you notice that he says, "Hello, friends!" just before Little Bill does at the end? It cracks me up.

Our Opinion Counts!
I just got an email saying that we could (will probably) be joining the Nielsen's Homescan Consumer Panel. We get a hand held scanner to use for scanning the bar codes on all of our purchases. (that part excites Isaac) Then once a week we'll send the info into the Nielsen company so manufacturers and retailers can decide what products to make and sell. I'm am excited about this because we’ll earn gift points that are redeemable for merchandise as well as entries into the companies' sweepstakes. I get all loopy when someone offers me something for free. :-)
Now, I don't know how much of a pain in the rear end it will be to actually scan the bar codes of everything we buy. The good thing is that we don't get out of the house enough to really do a whole lot of shopping other than for groceries. (Hm, I wonder if they'll judge me for all the Pepsi and Ding Dongs I buy? I mustn't think about that or I 'd be tempted to go all healthy! Ha!) If it is too difficult to maintain, then we'll just stop participating.
Doesn't this sound kind of cool?
