It's Been Awhile...

I want to start by extending a big, hearty thank you to Kathy Jo for all she did for the March For Babies walk. Thank you, too, to everyone who supported her. It has come to my attention that I've been slacking with the blog as of late. I can't believe it has been over two weeks since I last posted. Oops. Time has a way of slipping through my fingers lately. I am working on a few updates to post throughout the week, but I haven't quite finished them. Perfect Moment

My Perfect Moment...

Sharing my first Mother's Day with my little Shawn. Last year he was lying in a hospital bed while Isaac helplessly watched, fighting off an infection. (Jason and I spent my first Mother's Day alone.)

But this year?

This year Shawn was in my arms.

And I loved every moment of it. :-)

Top Ten Reasons I Love Having Twins

1. Shawn. Jason. 'Nuff said.


2. There is always someone to snuggle and kiss.


3. When one kid won't eat something, chances are high that the other will.


4. One baby at a time is boring to us over achievers.


5. They love to make each other laugh. I love to hear it.


6. Twice the cuteness. (I try not to think about those times when we have twice the crankiness.)


7. Twice as many things to celebrate, which leads to twice as many pictures.


8. I get to hear "Hi!" in surround sound.


9. When I have trouble deciding between two cute outfits, I don't have to feel guilty when I get to buy them both!


10. Isaac and I never have to share--we each get to hold and snuggle a baby--at the same time!

Oh, and for those of you who wonder how I raise twins and still find time to work, grade, AND blog, it is because I "selflessly contribute 52 hours of every day to people other than myself." And you know what? Sometimes it sure does feel that way!

Here is our little Shawn Bon saying his first word on camera. He says 5 words--momma, dadda, hi, kiiiii (kitty), no, and hey--fairly regularly.

I don't know what it is about the edging pieces on the boys' play mat, but they absolutely LOVE to pull them off and play with them. I imagine the boys smacking each other with the little pieces in the not too distant future. Ahhh, good times are a'coming. I can feel it!

Focus on Shawn

We took this video of Shawn several weeks ago, too. Shawn was the first of the two to master this developmental milestone--putting a ball into a hole. He was able to do this for at least three weeks before his brother. Shawn, however, decided he'd see that milestone and raise one. He not only puts the ball in the hole, but he'll put the ball into the appropriate colored hole. Not too shabby young man! Mommy and daddy are very proud. :-)

Focus on Jason

Isaac took this video of Jason a few weeks ago. This is one of our nightly rituals. Jason loves to crawl (he's doing his lazy crawl in this video, he's quite capable of crawling on all fours--still no official walking on his own!) over to me, put his head on the pillow, and snuggle against me. He'll stay for a few minutes and the move on to the next thing. It cracks me up to no end. Enjoy!
